surgery report? and thanks
I am wanting to get a surgery report. I remember reading on here once about obtaining a surgery report, but can't remember much about it. Can anyone tell me who I would ask for one and if it really is okay to ask for one? I have my 2wk. post op on Friday the 30th and would like to ask the Dr. if indeed he's the one I should ask. Thank you for your input. By the way I just have to say again this truly is the best website. All through my recovery I have not had any surprises because all of you wonderful ladies have so generously shared your experiences whether good or bad and that is truly a blessing!!!!! Thank you.

surgery report? and thanks
I asked this question the other day. I was actually wanting a copy of my pathology report too... From what I was told you could either request this from your DR office or the Hospital you were at. I haven't tried it yet, but hope to get it done soon...
Good luck.

Yes, you have a legal right to see your surgery report , etc. All you should have to do is ask. Sometimes they do charge you, though it should be a nominal fee per page, mostly for copying it.
HOWEVER, my hospital would have charged $35 for the report. And there was alot of hassle to go thru to get it, notarized signatures, etc. They could not remember to mail the forms, either. My DR gave it to me FREE. the first time I asked!

surgery report
Dear Charfaye--Indeed, your surgeon is the one to ask. You not only have a right to it--after all, it was your surgery--but in fact you might want to consider starting, if you don't have one already, you own medical file, so tht whenever you have blood drawn for any reason, bone density scans, mamorgrams, you have in writing in your own files, a written report. I would be very surprised if your surgeon refers you to medical records, which will cost you money and time and money, when all the surgeon has to do is photocopy in his or her office the surgical report which is already in your chart in the office. Anyway, good luck. The next step is decoding the report! New Yorker
