Hair Loss
I'm looking for anyone who has this problem. I recently discovered a bald spot about the size of nickle. I'll tell you the truth.. this is really frightening! I had my surgery ( TAH & ovaries and cervix) last October. I was taking Premarin .065, but I was still having hot flashes and a bad attitude, so my Dr. tweeked my Rx to 0.9. Things were fine for awhile but I just didn't like how I started feeling. When I was in my 20's I had a hair loss problem after taking hormones to help with an infertility problem. Thankfully I have been blessed with a wonderful daughter, but after taking the hormones years ago I had 2 tubal pregnancies. Any way back to the present.....I recently stopped taking my Premarin all together, I'm dealing with the ((((HEAT)))) on my own, and with the help of fans and AC. If any one out there has experienced this problem or knows anyone who has, please let me know......I think my hair is growing back in.... It did the last time this happened....Could it be the Premarin????

Hair Loss
vi: As a fellow hair loss sufferer, I have done some research on this. Ironically, too much estrogen can cause it, as too little. So I guess it's an imbalance of hormones. I am trying progesterone now, only on my second month. I have had this before and it would get better. This is the longest I've had the hair loss. It really bothers me, more than all the other symptoms of menopause! Fortunately, I do have new hair growth, it just keeps falling out after so long! Alot of other ladies here have that problem. We had a thread going on it. Oops, don't know how to make the link! (hostesses, help!)

Vi Flemming:
You know my mom had the hair loss problem when she was on premarin along with alot of other bad side effects. She talked to her Dr. and he put her on Estridol the hair does not seem to be really coming back but it's not falling out anymore. I also started loosing my hair before I had my hyst. it's still falling out but not at the same rate that it was (Estridol 2mg) and I could imagine how you would feel to see your hair thinning I am one that had very thick wavy black hair now after the hormonal shifts it just is not as thick as it used to be. Your hair will fill in you just need to find the right balance.

I do not think that it is just the type of estrogen we use that causes this hair loss. I was on the Climara patch and my hair fell out terribly. Maybe it is just the fluctuations in estrogen levels as we adjust to them. I have switched from climara to premarin to estrace. I noticed that my hair fell out more during the first few days of the switch on to the new med. After I had adjusted to the premarin it stopped altogether. I only switced to the estrace (estridiol) because it is cheaper. I believe ALL estrogens can cause hair loss. Now lets pray that it grows back.

Vi,
Hair loss can be a sign of a thyroid imbalance, you might want to have your thyroid checked just to be sure. You can read more about it here www.hormonejungle.com/thyroid.php
If your thyroid is okay, perhaps adding some Evening Primrose Oil and Fish Oil may help. You can read about EPO here www.hormonejungle.com/primrose.php I started using the EPO when I was about 6 months post op and my hair improved dramatically.
Here's another good thread about hair and EPO https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/sho...highlight=Hair
