Driving myself nuts!!

I'm getting closer to my castle date. I'm becoming a princess on 9/24. I'm getting really nervous and excited about getting this all behind me. I was wondering, as you princesses got closer to your date, how were you able to sleep. I can't help but to lay there and think about everything I have to do. Then I start panicing. I'm going through my nesting urge now. HELP! I'm driving everyone nuts including myself.

Driving myself nuts!!

Hey there!

Your surgery is on my 1-year hysterversary! I was very nutty as I anticipated my surgery, too. You're certainly not alone!

May I suggest the home page www.hystersisters.com pull-down menu, which has many stories that really helped me calm down?
Just knowing I was not alone, and reading here helped me prepare mentally.

Also, I highly recommend doing some things just for you, like having a massage or manicure/pedicure.... some special pampering, something you enjoy that relaxes you.... some nice, relaxing baths?

Oh, and good news: you might be *driving* yourself nuts now, but that will cease after your surgery, as you probably will not be allowed to drive for a bit then.

....ok, so I'm still nutty.

Was driving myself nuts too!

Hi, My surgery is on 9/6 for TVH/BSO and I was doing the same thing you are doing for weeks. It does make you crazy. I would lay down and my mind would race and I would end up crying. I went for my pre/adm tests yesterday and now I'm starting to feel better. I'm not saying the feelings won't return before I go, but everyone here says that the waiting is the hardest part.

Just go with the flow and cry if you have to. I keep reading the posts each day and that has helped me. I also take a nice relaxing bath each night and play some soothing music. This site has been great for me and hope you will find some comfort too.

Wishing you well. Hope your time passes fast and your surgery is a sucess.

surgery 9/24/02

Hi Melissa, I am also having surgery on 9/24/02 & I know exactly what you mean. Actually, the website has helped, just to know that there are people who understand my ambivalence. Before I started reading these message boards, I was feeling very alone. Hang in there, try to get outside & get some fresh air and exercise--this always helps me (although I have to be careful about what kind of exercise I do, hate the feeling of things "falling out!")

Driving myself nuts!!

Hi Melissa

I'm also on the 24th and the panic wants to set in. I have so much repair work as well as other things to do on the house that it does keep me busy.

But sometimes, I can't even work. I try to come over here, try to go back to the books that i"m researching and when all else fails, I try to talk to a good friend that lets me talk.

I imagine we're going to either reach a middle ground or just keep fighting the panic until it's over. You should allow the tears to come though. You need that.

When the panic comes and won't be diverted by other things, I spend a lot of time talking myself down.

I came here upset but knowing exactly what way I wanted to do things. I always feel better researching but have been feeling a lot like I'm in a cement mixer. There are so many different opinions and studies. It helps to have something solid to go from and decide from there but there is very little of that nature.

Last night I thought I'd made another decision only to wonder about it today.

So, I'm keeping a running list of all these things to bring into the doctor. Sure hope she isn't too booked for the day because I'm not leaving that room till ALL the questions are answered.
She's very good so that visit should at least lessen the panic.

Make sure you write down all your fears and questions and bring them to your pre-op with you.

Mine is sept 9th. I have a couple more books to finish before going in there anyway so it should be perfect timing.

Now...if I could just get someone to come over here and do the hard work...hehehe FAT CHANCE!

Hang in there! We will all get through this and be talking about it in the post op side before you know it!

Hi Melissa

i know that i million things are racing thru your mind right now. i had TAH/BSO on Aug 20th. this is all very normal. i guess the best advice i can give you is to try and keep busy. i was busy cleaning out my mother's condo because it was being sold on the 23rd. i didn't have a lot of time to think about the surgery. my main concern was having my house and laundry cleaned. i did manage to have rug cleaners come in. my rugs hadn't been cleaned in years. it was a nice treat. i also went out and bought gifts for upcoming events that i know i wouldn't be able to get after my surgery. i would make a list of everything you need to get done and tackle one project a day. you'll find yourself cleaning things and doing things that you always say you'll do another day.

also, visiting this site was wonderul. there are soooooooo many people here that are so helpful. i picked up a lot of great tips and well, the support was the best part.

your surgery date will be here before you know it. just remember the waiting and wondering is the worst part.

take care and remember we are all here for you

kathy
