Recurrent Urinary Tract Infections

((((Fran)))))) I'm so sorry you've been plagued with recurring UTI's since your hyst I don't have personal experience with this, but I know that, for some women, frequent UTI's are a problem after this surgery.

You might want to do a "search" on "UTI" and see if any of those threads will shed any on the subject. Also, here's a link to an article from the pull-downs, that talks about UTI's: http://www.hystersisters.com/urinary.php

One thing I know will help is to drink Cranberry Juice. I've also heard that it's gotta be pure Cranberry Juice, not those YUMMY mixes that are now available.

Sending lots of healing s your way.

I understand!!!

Hey Frances, I wanted to see how long ago your surgery was but I couldn't find it on your bio.I also had an immed UTI within days of my full hysto last year(this month to be exact)I ended up on three diff types of antibiotics. My Gyno seemed to think this was not uncommon, but I continued to have them and I had to then see an urologist and have a stretching and some stitiches put in.The Urologist said this was common after a full hysto and he also sees this in post-meno women.Since the same gland that produces natural lubricant is not working it also affects the bladder and that was why I was prone(along with a history of bladder problems)I feel for you and I hope that it clears up, it feels crummy!!!If you would like, you can e-mail me anytime. All the best. Col.

Recurrent Urinary Tract Infections

Hi Fran,
I had to jump in here and tell my story. I haven't had much to complain about concerning my hyst recovery but have had my share of UTI's since surgery. Each time, I think I'm on my 6th, dr. gives me 7 days of Macrobid and sends me down the lane talking to myself. I happened to mention this to my SIL and she said the same thing happened to her and her dr. treated her for 3 months! Soooo... I decided to go see my urologist ( I also manufacture kidney stones in various shapes, sizes and color ) Dear doctor says the same thing, 3 months of Macrobid with the possability of up to 6 months. I have never had a yeast infection but I figure if I'm to get one it's going to be now.
I just thought I would let you know that you are not alone, hang in there, we may be having a yogurt eating contest! Karlene
