Feeling *too* good?

This is going to sound crazy but I'm worried about feeling too good.

I'm 12 days post op from a TAH with the standard abdominal incision but I have *no* pain, none whatsoever, and haven't had any since I got home from the castle. It doesn't hurt to cough, sneeze, laugh, walk up and down stairs, lie on my stomach, nothing. In fact, aside from feeling tired it's hard to believe I just had major surgery.

The reason this worries me is I don't want to slip up and overdo it just because I feel so good. I know there's a lot of internal healing going on but I'm so tempted to do more than I should. Anyone else feel this great so soon after surgery?

Allison --PLEASE DO NOT OVERDO IT!!!

After about 12 days post, I, too, felt really, really good, and...that weekend I really overdid it and having been paying for it for about a week now.

Feeling *too* good?

Hello ladies Welcome to the other side.Happy to hear
your recoveries are going so well. but please please remember you are recovering from major surgery. I remember how great i felt when I got home from the castle. Of course that feeling great
feeling was probably helped along by the drugs lol.I had a TVH
no visible signs of surgery so it was very easy to forget that I had
major surgery.2 weeks into recovery I felt great no pain just tired.
And yes I over did it and paid for it Big time.I am now 5 weeks post and feeling good but my body reminds me when its time to take it easy.So ladies I am passing on to you what was said to me by all the wonderful people here at Hystersisters You only have one chance to heal. So take time to heal.
a little plenty of fluids and some more.
If you don't the pillow police will get you!!!best of luck in your recoveries

Feeling *too* good?

I promise I'm not overdoing it, though I did drive today. Other than that I'm taking it very easy and getting plenty of rest. Too bad I can't sleep at night but I suppose that's another story.

Feeling *too* good?

I have a hard time sleeping at night also. Of course I'm sleeping some in the daytime and that can't help. I feel great most of the time. That's great compared to how I felt before the surgery and how I thought I would feel after.
I get little twinges now and then and last night I overdid a little and knew it within the hour. We decided to try going out to dinner. I was very careful to take it easy and felt so good that after dinner we stopped at the store for a couple of things.
Before we were done, I knew I had touched my limit. My belly started swelling and kind of aching.
Got home, sat around and took it easy. Figured I would feel terrible today, but I haven't done anything but take care of myself and I feel OK. It's hard to take it so easy when there's so much to do and I'm SO BORED !

Feeling "too" good?

Hi. This is my first post since I got home yesterday afternoon. My surgery was on Tuesday, TAH-LSO. I have some serious pain on the left side of my incision, no BM yet (though I had one in the castle 2 days post-op, after eating only some crackers). Head to toe, though, I really feel great. I'm wondering if/when something bad will happen??? Of course, I may feel good compared to how I felt before my surgery - constant pain, heavy periods, fevers all the time, and, what I had always thought was symptoms from Irritable Bowel Syndrome. According to my surgeon, however, my diagnosis post-surgery was changed because they found, in addition to fibroids, including one the size of an 18 week fetus, adhesions, endometriosis and possible adenomyosis. My anatomy was "distorted" and my sigmoid colon was attached to an ovary. My bowel was adhered to the surface of my uterus. My ovaries were "buried" in adhesions and one of them ruptured when they were trying to clean it up. They were able to save the other ovary but they took the cervix, saying it was also "involved." My surgery lasted over 4 hours. Has anyone else had so much involvement with their bowels? Have there been later developments I should be aware of??? I am waiting for "the other shoe" to drop.

feeling too good

Hi
I was one of those lucky ones also. I had a TAH/BSO and felt great after I got home from the hospital. I really had to watch what I did because I felt so good.

Hi Ladies!

It's wonderful to see a thread where you're all feeling so good...BUT please take care! Often the ladies we've seen in postop don't post messages until it's too late ...

I also was a "lucky" one --- never really had pain more than a 3 or 4, but because of the advice from this site followed the princess training lots of water, a mile a day after 2 weeks (this is just because I felt good -- please don't do this unless your doctor tells you it's okay), and got lots of

Please be careful --- do not overdo!

Visit the home page (click on the princess at the top of the page) and look under "Punctured Princesses" for hints.

sending lots of healing s your way!

Feeling *too* good?

Count me as one of the blessed ones, too! I had no pain to speak of after the first 3-4 days. I am 7 wks. post-op now. I have felt pretty good all this time and often wondered (worried) how that could be.

I took all the warnings and encouragement from the HysterSisters to heart. I was good as I could be through those first six weeks even tho I felt fine and a little guilty about "taking it easy".

But I have to think that the cautious route I took increased the good feeling and healing. I can only guess at what problems might have been if I didn't follow the advice to take care of myself--"we only have one chance to heal right."

So take care of yourself even when you don't feel like you need to!

Janet
