Is Birth Control enough?

I am having surgery on Monday Sept. 9 and my Dr. wants to put me on the brith control pill. I am 29 and can't remember how my body reacted to the pill.
But the main question is, is there enough estrogen in the pill. Are any others on the pill and how are they. Both my gyne and family dr. seem to think there is enough to work for me.

Thanks for the help

Is Birth Control enough?

Jillanna,
It's been my understanding that actually there may be too much estrogen in the birth control pill. There have been some women who have had success with it as their hrt, but you do have other options. You'll find a list of your options here www.hormonejungle.com/estrogen.php

In addition do read the pull down menus at www.hormonejungle.com You will find lots of information there about hormones, symptoms of imbalance, and much more.

Best wishes on your upcoming surgery.

Is Birth Control enough?

Jilliana,

There is quite a bit of estrogen in birth control pills, and they are sometimes prescribed for menopause. There is even one formula called femhrt which is basically a low dose birth control pill.

Some doctors like to precribe them for women who have hysts at a young age - who tend to need quite a bit of estrogen. Sometimes, after a while, the estrogen is too much. It's good to keep informed of your options.

No one thing works for us all, and often we need to change our HRT as our bodies change.

Birth Contol Pills

Thank you for the information,

This is Jillanna's Husband here, just wanted to let the group know (Care of Jillanna) that She had her surgery today, and when I left her she was in a bit of pain, and using the Morphine drip to it's full advantage. She was very sleepy, but is in good spirits, and should be back home in a few days.

Thank you all for sharing your experiences.
