Had my Post Op 5 Week Visit 9/11/02, Dr. will not release me for 4 weeks

I went for my 5 week post op visit yesterday. The dr. said I still had a "significant" amount of stitches that had not completely healed and he was not ready to release me (my story is complicated and you can read it on the other screen where you selected Post Op under "HYSTER SISTER SPECIAL MESSAGES", under "Princess Stories".

No sex until then. He said I had been doing too much and still needed at least 4 hours rest a day. I started back to work this week. I don't know how I will get 4 hours rest, sleep and work all in 24 hours. All in all, I am doing very well under the circumstances. My vertical incision is healing well and I can start using the "Mederma" to help it to fade. I still have a few tender spots tho.

He increased my hormones (Estrace) from 1.0 to 1.5 to see if it will help with the fatigue. I seem to be exhausted all the time. I have gotten a sinus infection on top of all of this (he gave me a ZPack for it) and that just magnifies the exhaustion. I will take the increased dosage for the 4 weeks and see if it helps make me feel better. I told him my biggest problem was my scalp itches. It drives me crazy. NEVER happened before my hyst.

God has really blessed me. Who would have known that I would be back at work in 5 weeks after having a vag hyst, scope surgery, exploratory surgery, losing 7 pints of blood, and spending 24 hours in intensive care and 6 days in the hospital.

You all are such an inspiration to me. I have learned so much from you all.

Thanks for just letting me talk.
Love to you all
Terri

Terri, Your post concerns me. You say the doctor won't release you for another 4 weeks, and that you can't resume relations again until then. Does the doctor know that you are back at work. He told you that you are doing to much. Please don't jeopardize your recovery by over-doing it. Some ladies take 9-10 weeks or so for the initial recovery time. That sounds like what you are still in. Then it can be up to a year before all internal sutures are completely healed. Please make sure that you and your doctor are on the same page as to what you should and shouldn't be doing right now. Take care!

He is aware

He knows that I have gone back to work. He knows that that is what is exhausting me mostly. I sit all day, don't do much but be on the computer and talk on the phone. He just meant mainly that when I got home, he expected me to rest instead of doing housework and grocery shopping, etc. If I am going to work, until I feel better, he prefer's I do not do much else.

The worse part was that I had pretty much gone back to my full church schedule (My dh is a Minister of Music). We spend a lot of time at church. ALL of it combined was just to much.

I have learned my lesson tho. My body has been thru too much and it will take extra time for it to heal.

Thank you for caring.

Hi Terri,

Please do take it easy --- I know it's hard when you have so many demands on your time, but the time you spend healing now will help you feel much better later!

Sending healing s your way!
