A week ago (2 weeks after my vaginal hysterectomy), I started having a fever. I was thinking it was the flu because I had a sore throat in the morning, so I didn´t worry. Four days with a fever, and no flu symptoms whatsoever, and a sudden lower right pain in the surgery area made me call the doctor. My blood test showed I had a high leucocyte count, so there was an infection. The doctor prescribed antibiotics and fortunately I responded to them. He says a seroma formed and the exact cause will probably never be known. I would like to know if anyone developed an infection during the recovery post hysterectomy.
Thanks.

Hi, Pachita! I'm sorry you got an infection and aren't feeling well. It's good you called your dr and got the antibiotics! I don't have any personal experience with a seroma, but here's a link to a past thread discussing it. http://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/sho...ghlight=seroma Here's hoping you heal quickly and feel good very soon! s

Thank you Ruthie,
this is the first time I participate in a message board and I wish I had a week ago when I was so worried because I had some light bleeding after the operation. The information you sent me on the seroma is extremely valuable. I will talk to my doctor later, but what I think that happened is that my seroma got punctured in some way, and then I got infected. Feels better to know that 50% of women get one, so I am not alone. It was good to hear that it just happens, and that it wasn´t something I did that caused it. Thanks again.
Pachita.
