What is granulation tissue

Hi kerswim granulation tissue is just tissue that's inflamed and hasn't healed properly. DRs usually treat vaginal granulation tissue with silver nitrate during an office visit. Hope this helps!

granulation tissue.....more

It's tissue that hasn't healed properly. I had an ingrown toenail and my toe kept trying to heal itself by becoming inflamed and pussing up and stuff. Then it eventually grew like a second skin overtop of the site. this is called a granuloma. It had to be removed because it is tissue that has healed wrong. Hope that made any sense.

What is granulation tissue

I had granulation tissue...basically it was tissue trying to form over some undissolved stitches. My doctor cauterized the area with silver nitrate and that took care of it.

me too!

I had an LAVH/BSO on Feb 14, 2002. Felt great...except last Sunday I went to the bathroom and looked down and to my horror.....blood in the panties! I almost fell off the toilet...I was not expecting to ever see that again.
Anyway, called my dr and got it checked out. It was a granuloma and he treated it with silver nitrate. I felt a little crampy. I have to go back for a recheck in three weeks, I'm thankful it wasn't anything worse..

Not all bad

Hi ladies-
I just wanted to let you know that all granulation tissue is not bad. In fact, in my case it is very favorable. Granulation tissue is your bodies way of trying to "sew" back together what it thinks should be together. I ruptured subcutaneous stitches while in the castle and had a large hematoma to show for it. Then, because of the hematoma it pulled my staples and I had 4 1/2 inches of my incision open up. For several days I had to go to the doctor and have them clean out the clots and then repeat this at home. However, the nurse practioner did it one day when my doctor wasn't there and he got mad at her the next day because she used hydrogen peroxide which breaks up the granulation tissue. Long story short, the granulation tissue is what is causing my open incision to close back up. They can't close it up post-surgery, because it's no longer a sterile field and it would be a guaranteed abscess. So, while you certainly don't want granulation tissue forming in places that should be open, it is not always bad!

Always check with your doctor, as these are only my opinions

What is granulation tissue

Hi kerswim

I also had granulation tissue. My Doctor cauterized the area using silver nitrate, but in my case I had to have the silver nitrate applications 4 times. I was so happy on the last visit when he told me that I did not have to have anymore.
