To all Vaginal Hyster/Sisters.

Hi Sisters,

I had a TVH, kept the ovaries, bladder and recetal repairs on Aug 15th. I haven't look down there yet but, been tempted. I am sore around the peradiem (sp). It feels sore, raw, dry and itchy. I noticed this last week, after I have had a pee. I clean myself well and I take epsom salt sitz bath. Maybe I have dried this area out?

Anyone have this problem? I want to put something on it for relief! I know it may not be a good idea and I will be seeing my GYN next Thurs for my 6 wk check-up.

Any advice will be welcomed. Thank-you! Couters

To all Vaginal Hyster/Sisters.

Hi Couters don't be afraid to take a look with a mirror. When I did, I was surprised at how much better things looked that I expected. I did see a few stitches and some swelling, but nothing that scary.

If it's sore and itchy (which is most probably from swelling and the stitches), it may be that the epsom salts are too drying for you there right now. Did your DR OK the sitz baths? Mine only allowed a shower or bidet spray, plain water, until my 6 week checkup. She even told me not to use any soap there in the shower, just warm water.

Can you call your DR and ask if there is anything that's safe to put on it to help with the itching? One thing I remember from when I had my first baby and had a lot of stitches (tore through and had to have a rectal repair) was something from the hospital called Dermaplast spray. It was a cooling, numbing spray in a can and I was allowed to use it even at a few days post. That stuff felt great.

Hope this helps. Please do call the DR's office and ask about the itchiness.

Thanks! I think I will stop the Epsom salts sitz bath, I ran out of the salts today. My Doctor and the Home Care Nurse suggested the sitz bath and showers. I was told if I use soap down there to rinse well. I have used soap in the past when I was still bleeding and spotting. That stopped 5 days ago! I have a clear discharge now and hopefully I can stop wearing pantyliners soon!! I am also aching for a nice relaxing bath. I hopeing to get the a-okay next Thurs!

I have gently felt my repairs and boy it is nice not to have parts of me hanging out! I was check it out in the mirror soon.

Thanks again. Couters
