headaches making me sick

I am on estrace 2mgs.I was on the estradiol 2mgs.and i was cutting them in half for 1 mg i thought it was because i was taking the generic i got the headaches. so today i took the estrace 2 mg and I got a headache so bad it upset my stomache do you think i need to cut back on my estrogen.I can not stand these headaches any more.what would half of 1 mg be i think I am gonna try that any suggestions? tah bso 5-99 Rosie

Well, let's see: you got sick on 2 mg and just got a headache on 1 mg. Sounds like you're moving in the right direction, at least.

I have to wonder how old you are, though, Rosie. We have some sisters in their 40s who are just taking 0.5 mg, but that's a fairly minimal dose. Still, it has been proven effective in preventing osteoporosis, and it's worth a try.

If you start to get hot flashes or otherwise feel like you're a bit low on the 0.5 mg, you might consider adding some progesterone cream. It would extend the estrogen's effects slightly without boosting it as much as increasing the estrogen itself. And it does other good things as well (you can read more about progesterone in Hormone Jungle dropdown menu).

If you do find that the dose for you is 0.5 mg, ask your doctor to switch your prescription to 1.0 mg so you don't have to try to quarter the pills. They divide in halves pretty well, but it gets a lot more random below that. [blue]
