Anti spasm meds for adhesions?

My dr suspects adhesions to my bowel as I had extensive adhesions when I had my Ovaries removed last Aug . My bowel was adhesed to my abd. and ovaries. He put me on a antispasm med (amitriptolene then imiprimine) Has anyone tried these meds or others and found any relief?

Anti spasm meds for adhesions?

Loo loo:

I can't tell you whether they work or not, but I do know that it is common to try this class of medication (called "tricyclics") for chronic pain management. I know that many with migraine heachaches (also thought to be spasmodic) are helped with these...

I hope they work for you! You will need to have your EKG taken periodicially, as these medications (very rarely) can cause changes in rhythm conduction...

Wow you sound just like me! Back in April of this yr i had surgery, along the same incision as my TAH! I had a new gyn surgeon do this is was excellent! he found that adhesions had me all glued together my intestines were also stuck to my abd. wall i guess i was a mess in there! My gyn cleaned me out really good! Honestly i'v had very little pain from the adhesions go so yes my surgery worked! We do believe these adhesions are back but not as intense as they were so to help my out I do take amtripyline (elavil) 25 mg at bed time i do not take it during the day yet! I'm doing pretty good but still have a rough time sometimes! I just had some blood work done to check and see if i have an autoimmune disorder and she will probely up my dose of meds! All in all it has helped with the pain and i do sleep better most of the time! I hope this helps a little!
Sending tons of 's!!!

Hi

Yes I have been put on just about every antidepressant known to man for irritable bowel , which ended up being mostly from adhesions galore on the sigmoid colon and rectal area. I could not tolerate any of the meds. I presently take Librax as needed for the spasms and pain. I try to get enough fiber to keep the constipation down and drink lots of h2o. I did get some relief in the past with Siniquan but could only take it for 6 mths. The librax can be taken as needed rather than every day which I like. Best of wishes to you Braswell
