New/Weight Issues
I'm new...just found out I'm in need of a hysterectomy. I'm 37 years old. I'm very overweight (200+).
When I had my cesarean 10 years ago, it took forever to heal, due to my size and body shape. Do any other overweight people have advice about healing, when you are cut abdominally?
I'd really appreciate it.

Welcome!
Hi, Cindie! Welcome to HysterSisters! I'm sorry you have to have a hyst, but I'm glad you found this great support group! We have had lots of large ladies here who have sailed through surgery with minimal problems, and we'll be hoping that you will as well. Here is a link to a long thread where the ladies are discussing this http://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/sho...ght=overweight You see, you're in good company here! One hint I've read is to use a hair blower on the cool setting to dry the incision after a shower. It helps in healing, if the incision is kept as dry as possible--though it's difficult with the little roll of flesh above the incision that we all get.
If you haven't read the pull-down menus for Ladies in Waiting, click on the princess logo in the upper left corner, and scroll down to find many stories and hints to help you be prepared for your surgery and recovery. Feel free to ask any questions you think of, and we'll try to find answers. We'll be here to support you on this journey! s and best wishes!

New/Weight Issues
Hi!
I am one year post next week. I was VERY overweight pre-op (over 100 pounds overweight). That was my biggest fear before surgery.
Keeping your incision dry and following the docs orders exactly are even more imporant to us.
If you need to talk or have other questions send me and PM or email @ soebbing@prodigy.net

Thanks!
Thank you ladies, for answering so quickly.
I just read the longer thread and it was helpful, too.
As luck would have it, my doctor's office called back moments ago and she wants to see me tomorrow, for another exam and to set the date.
More info to come,
Cindie
