rapid heartbeat

I am 5 months post op. Woke up at night with rapid heartbeat. Has anyone experienced this. Also had hot flush with it. Has anyone heard of getting panic attacks at night while sleeping? Had a blood test done & I had low magnesium. Dr. put me on 400 mg. of magnesium twice a day. I still have my ovaries but they seem to have shut down. Not taking anything for the hot flashes.

Low magnesium can certainly contribute to arrhythmia. I wouldn't be surprised if your "hot flash" was caused by the rhythm, rather than the other way around.

Give the magnesium a few days to work. I do hope that you don't experience a recurrence of this...and it is a good reminder of the need for magnesium. Take a look at Trish on the subject: http://www.hormonejungle.com/supp.php . Remember that once the missing magnesium is replaced, you need to keep supplementing magnesium at half the dose of your calcium to maintain a 2:1 ratio.

Hope you're feeling better!
