Question for those who have had a uterine prolapse.....

I am scheduled for a TVH (leaving ovaries) on December 16th. In July of this year I literally felt my uterus drop - like something was giving away internally. I was diagnosed then with a major rectocele and the prolapse. For many reasons I am waiting until December for my surgery but each month (the day of ovulation and thereafter) I am plagued with pelvic pain and a low back ache. To be honest, it feels like my uterus is hanging by a thread. There is almost a tearing sensation. Did anyone else experience this monthly pain with their prolapse??? If tomorrow were the 16th of December I would be thrilled but until then I am content for whatever information and comfort you can give me.

As a final note: my surgeon attributes this prolapse to the fact that I just lost 20 pounds on WW and I don't have the tummy support I had earlier when I was heavy.

Thank you for any information you can give me !! God bless you all!!

uterine prolapse

Gosh poor you!! I had an TAH on 8/20 because I had a tilted uterus, uterine prolapse, two uterine fibroids, one the size of a baseball. When they got in there they found another cyst on r ovary so they removed that. I remember wishing I didn't delay my surgery date for over a month - I too had the lower back pain, sometimes felt like back labor and like everything was pushing.

I hope you feel better when you get that puppy taken care of. Maybe you might want to consider having it done sooner that way you can enjoy the holidays?? Good luck with your surgery,

lori

I know exactly how you feel!

First, congratulations on your weight loss! What a wonderful achievement. It seems so unfair that you are suffering these consequences for doing something so good for yourself.

My prolapse resulted from the birth of my daughter. Initially I didn't have pain, because I nursed my daughter & so I didn't have a period for 10 months. Boy, when it finally came, it came on like gangbusters. At first I thought it was so hideous because I hadn't had one in so long---but it has gotten progressively worse every month (actually, more like every 3 weeks now). It feels like I am dropping more every month. I have a rectocele as well, which makes the monthly miserly doubly icky. Sorry, need to get a little graphic now---I have found that it's critical to keep my BM's regular with daily fiber, especially around the time of my period. Because of prolapse/cystocele/rectocele, I have difficulty using tampons, but the bleeding is so heavy, I don't dare go without them---if you have hard stool in the vault from constipation, it make things even more difficult. (also it increases the pelvic pressure---with everything just sitting on the pelvic floor because the ligaments aren't holding anything up anymore, there is only so much room down there!) Ibuprofen definitely takes the edge off the pain---although I hate taking medications, there are some days when I feel like I don't even want to get out of bed without it.

I feel for you and will be thinking of you.

Question for those who have had a uterine prolapse.....

I was stage 4 prolapse and had my surgery June 17th of this year. Mine was so bad that when I would "fall out" I would not only feel it, I would elevate my pelvis and it would slid back in, I would feel that also. I put up with mine for 5 years using Kegel until the pressure got so bad I finally could not take it any more. Women in the olden golden days used to live with this forever. Not me man, I am feeling so much better now. Mine did get worse each month due to the cycle and gravity pulling things down at that time. It also got worse if I did too much walking or lifting. You are not going to rip anything, but it does put allot of pressure on your organs. Hang in there, it will be over soon and you will feel better. Good luck!

Prolapse

I had a prolapsed uterus and rectocle and a fallen vagina. I just had a hysterectomy and all the repair work done Nov. 1st. It has been a slow and painful recovery. I have a 3 and 1 year old and this has been so hard. Whatever I can answer for you I will. I went into this blindly and wish I had researched more. I am oly 34 years old and had all this happen.

Question for those who have had a uterine prolapse.....

I was prolapsed for years but no problems until severe menopause symptoms hit this year. Loss of estrogen causes the pelvic floor to become very weak. I stand all day at my job and the pressure of my uterus on my bladder made me have urinary pain that got really bad by the end of the day. I had a terrible time every time I tried to have a BM. When I finally got scheduled for a TVH and posterier repair I dreaded having to wait. I just wanted to get rid of all that discomfort. Things went well and I feel good. I see the DR for my 4 wk check up on Mon.

Thank you all so much !

I really want to say thank you for answering my post. I have made it through this month's 'drop' and was absolutely miserable for 5 days. Sex now is also a challenge (sorry to be so graphic) and I am on the countdown until my surgery day. Unfortunately, I will ovulate once more before surgery and if the past is a reflection of what to expect it will be a doozy. Maybe I can just stay in bed for those 5 days and give gravity a little help LOL.

prolapses made worse with wt loss

It is interesting to me that your Dr. told you your prolapse was brought on by wt loss. I have had a rectocele for at least 10 yrs now (I am 39 yrs old) It has gotten a lot worse over the last year, when about 1.5 months ago it seemed to 'pop'. When I went to my gyn she said I have a cystocele, severe rectocele and moderate uterine prolapse. I have lost over 70 lbs in the last year on Slim-Fast and regular daily exercise. I had heard that obesity can contribute to prolapses but not the lossing of weight. I wonder if my rectocele would have gotten as bad as it has if I hadn't loss weight? Of course, I still would have, I still have about 30 more lbs to lose, but it is an interesting topic.

uterine prolapse

I had a horrible uterine prolapse which was apparently pulling my bladder and uterus down. I had a persistent backache and a
dull aching feeling in my lower abdomen constantly which even
got worse when I had my periods. I finally had a TVH on Nov. 7
with a spinal and no medications and no morphine after, only
pain suppositories. I could have left on Nov. 8 but stayed till
the 9th. I've been home for a week now and I'm fine and best
of all my backache is gone. I took a peek at where my prolapse
used to be sticking out and it was gone and I'm looking good
down there for a change. It's such a relief! I wish I had done
it sooner. I go for daily short walks and am doing a lot of
resting etc. but no more aching dragging feeling. Good luck
on your operation - a TVH is the way to go and you'll feel like
a new woman after.

Question for those who have had a uterine prolapse.....

Hi! I'm a brand new poster and I wanted to tell you that I am also having surgery on December 16th. I guess we will do this together! Same problems here. I have waited so long to get rid of this uterus! (Before it falls out on it's own!) I have to do whatever it takes to keep my bowels smooth...that's what helps me. Hard stools, I swear, are worse than child birth. (Which I guess is where I got this....had two tramatic ones/one with forceps). Good luck...I'll be thinking of you!! -Kathyh
