I don't know what my problem is...."ouch!" is this normal?

Hello, hello! I love, love, love, this board! So much info. & support. I REALLY need that right now. Just waiting for all of this to sink in. Scheduled for Nov. 5, and walking around in a fog.

My question...I never got a "real" diagnosis, so I'm trying to narrow down what I need to expect when they get in there (my tummy, that is!). I have uterine fibroids, ovarian cyst (s?), and pelvic adhesions (I've had 3 c-sections). The reasons for the hyst., with 3 different drs. diagnosis! And...I really think I have endo. (pain during sex, heavy periods, worse before period, lower back pain, etc. etc. ) Could anybody tell me if this "pain" I have sounds familiar? I'm driving myself nuts trying to see if I really have endo. or not.
Hope this isn't too personal, but I've never read about it. I get these really nasty vaginal pains. Not during sex (got different pains then-gee, whiz!) , and not sensitive to the touch, and not vulvodynia. They are literally in the vagina, and feels like a charlie horse in there, with a kind of a "shooting" pain feeling (kind of like someone zapping me with a mini cattle prod.) Hope this isn't too graphic, but I just wanted to know if this was something that went with endo., or trapped nerves, or what? I just want to be able to tell my dr. as much a possible, so that he can kind of be "looking" for whatever it might be.

Oh, yeah, there is no particular time it does it, it's just out of the blue, and comes and goes. And sometimes a couple of weeks will go by before I have it at all.

Any help would be sooooo appreciated--thank you ladies, this is only my second post, so I hope I'm doing everything right. Someday I might even try to figure out all of the little smilie things & stuff! Cute!

Hi Lotsacats,

I'm pretty new here myself and do love this website

I just wanted to say that 'cattleprod' was a pretty good word for the pain that you are experiencing, I've had that too at times. Just "BAM" out of the middle of nowhere! It kind of feels like a pulled muscle and then it lets go after a few minutes. Not sure why our bodies do the things they do, but just wanted to let you know that I have had those pains also.

*hugs*

Hi Lotsacats

I don't know what the answer is, either, but I'm pretty familiar with the pain you're describing. I never thought to describe it as a "cattleprod", but you know, you're right on target!!!

I'll be very interested in the answer if someone has it out there, too.

Hugs,
Cat

Hi, Lotsacats - so glad you found this site!

I don't know what that particular pain is, but I know I was having a lot of lower back pain myself before the hysterectomy. It would be to your benefit to be as specific as possible when telling your doctor about the pains - don't be shy, just describe them as closely as you can. Your doctor needs to know what you've been experiencing.

I remember being kind of "in shock" about having the surgery. I never expected it. I'm grateful I found this site. It helped me a lot. I learned that if so many women had this surgery and came out better for it on the post-op side, I could, too. And I did! And so will you! The information and support here is overwhelming. Please check out all the information on the pull-down menus on the home page. And of course there are the posts and even chat. Come get some cyber-s! Someone will always be here on this site for you.

Hope everything goes well for you,

Sue

Thank you so much, one and all! It's nice to know I have company and fellow sisters in the "cattle prod" department!
I''ll tell the doc about it, and see what he thinks, at the pre-op.
