Swelly Belly 6 Months Post Op

Hi there,
I had a very uneventful hysterectomy. I had a really huge fibroid and my uterus was the size of
a five month pregnancy. I had fibroids for 12 yrs. but during the last two years one grew really large.

My question is this belly thing. Up under the bottom of my bra down to the bottom of my belly is just really swollen and in the way. I'm very gassy which may be part of it. Does it get bad for awhile before it gets better??? It's just like the muscles were so droopy from all the weight.

Does the swelly belly last this long (I do have tons of food allergies and it could be playing a role in this too). Should I be doing a lot of exercises???

Please help!!!

Thank you, Kathy

Swelly Belly 6 Months Post Op

Hi Kathy!

I had the swelly belly until about 6 months post-op. It gradually got better. Sometimes it does take a long time. The gas you are having sure could contribute to your bloating. I have food allergies also - if I eat any foods that I shouldn't my body reacts with bloating, gas, digestive problems, etc. By now you could be doing some exercises to work on the belly area. You can get some good fitness advice on the HysterSister's Forum

If you continue to have difficulties you may need to give your doctor a call to see what they recommend. Hang in there! Take care.
