i think I'll make it.

Thank you so much for this site! It has really lifted me up. I had my surgery a week ago. Felt very yuck-oh this weekend. The night sweats have arrived, along with headaches. (I had a LVH with Bladder lift and ovaries removed.) The complication for me is that I wont be able to have HRT because I'm a breast cancer survivor. Is anyone else dealing with this? It's a little scary. I haven't had any trouble resting at all!

Hello, new princess!

Just wanted to send a big your way. I've been on HRT since a few days post op, so managed to avoid most of the sweats and flashes. Check out the No Hormone Desert Oasis part of this site for suggestions on those. I'm glad to hear you've been able to rest; you'll certainly need that for a good recovery.

Take care!

Hi jenlo and welcome to Hystersisters! I'm glad you found us. There are lots of other sisters here who are newly post op as you are... it can really help to talk with other ladies who are going through the same thing you are.

We do have a forum where ladies who can't or don't want to use HRT can discuss other means to deal with their symptoms, it's called the No-Hormone Desert Oasis . You can meet other ladies there who can't use HRT and see what kinds of issues they have and what supplements they are taking to handle their symptoms.

Another place to meet ladies with similar experiences is in our Cancer Concerns forum. There are some really great ladies over there and they're very supportive of each other.

And of course, if you have any other Post Op concerns, feel free to post them right here. It's great to "meet" you!
s,
-Linda

thanks!

Thanks for letting my know about the forum for no HRT. I already got a few tips. My DF is being great so far about helping. My DR said I couldn't lift anything heavier than a newspaper right now for my bladder to heal. my DS (12 yr old) is my helper in the p.m. He grumbles, but so far is helping. I hope it will last!!! My sweet daughter came home from college for the weekend--my worst time. My DH made me vanilla pudding for the week, but with sour milk. whoops! I should go to bed, but I hate the sweats I get. I feel like I'm constantly eating to get my meds down. Don't want to blimp out!

I am 8 days recovering from LAH with Bladder Lift and BSO. Everytime I get up today I'm extremely dizzy, and I'm getting a bad headache. I have only taken Advil for pain today - no Percocet. Has anyone experienced this dizziness?

Hi Jenlo, I didn't have any dizzyness after my hyst. I did have some headache problems, which I think were partly caffeine withdrawl (I get mine from pop and wasn't drinking it due to the fizzys causing gas) and no HRT for 6 weeks. I think you should give the doctor a call, and tell them about the dizziness. That way the doctor can decide if it sounds like anything serious or not. Let us know what you find out.
Take care!

Yes, I did have the dizziness after my hyst. I didn't take pain meds other than Advil after being home either. But I had such a problem with meds in the hospital that I figured it was left-over drugs in my system. Some of the drugs they give you can take a long time to completely leave your system. Especially since you aren't moving around much.
Just to be safe though, you should probably talk to your DR.

Sister, the diziness can be a sign of anemia and/or other blood levels being low....if you haven't had any blood work done, you may want to call your Dr. and inform him. The last thing you need is to pass out, girl! Unfortunately, at 3 wks post op, I still get dizzy when I get up, that is mostly due to the fact that my hemoglobin being sooooo low. Best of luck sister.
