What could this mean?

OK ... I think I may Need some advice here. Dr. says from the ultra sound I have a 10 cm mass under my left ovary. I told him I'm not in pain just pressure and a pulling on my left lower side. Now 1 week later ,(of course on a Fri.!!!) I'm getting a dull but persistant throbbing pain. If this thing bursts , Do I go to the ER or ???? It can't drain anywhere because of the Hyst. So it's trapped in there. Help!!!!!

What could this mean?

Dear Cindy-Lou,

I am so sorry you are going through this If I were in your position, I think I would go to the ER. In fact, when I had a cyst burst (in the past, didn't know I had any) I ended up in the ER. They did an u/s and treated my pain. I was released within 12 hours...but they did keep a close eye on me. I believe it depends on what kind of cyst you have...if indeed that is what it is. Please understand, I am speculating here....

Please let us know how you are doing. I'm sending you many, many soothing S dear sister

What could this mean?

((((Cindy-Lou))))) Isn't it annoying how these things always seem to develop on the week-end

I agree with Jude: a trip to the ER sounds like the wise thing to do, especially since you know you might having problems due to the hyst.

Hang in there, my dear. Your sisters are here for you. Sending lots of s your way.

What could this mean?

((Cindy-Lou)),
Did he say the mass was fluid-filled? I had a mass show up on a Transvaginal U/S and it was on my right ovary. I was experiencing pulling, stabbing & burning pain in that area. B/C my Dr was not sure what the mass was I had a Lap to remove my right ovary. It was also enlarged in size and covered with multiple blood-filled cysts. We decided to remove the Ovary thinking it was the source of my continuing right-sided pain. My mass turned out to be Adhesions which were adherring it to my vaginal cuff hence the pulling. If yours wasnt fluid-filled maybe it is something similiar to what mine was
Should it be a cysts, the pain of rupturing for me was severe but I would feel better afterwards. Your body reabsorbs the fluid. Here are a few links about Ovarian Cysts:

Please call your Dr/ or go to the ER as the others suggested...please keep us posted

What could this mean?

It is solid and fluid. I guess it is a cyst ,but he called it a mass. It's almost 3pm (Sat) and its still hurting . Not a bring ya to the floor pain but a dull throbing pain in the lower left side with a area the size of a quarter tender to the touch on my lower back. I did'nt help it by resting . About 8 of my friends and I piled into a winnebaggo and went to a bunch of Fall yard sales. It was hilarious, but I'm paying for it now. It was not doing this prior to yesterday. I'm gonna try to stick it out until Monday then call the Dr . What does it feel like when it bursts? This is really aching making my stomach sick feeling .

What could this mean?

For me when the burst it was a bring me to my knees pain I was doubled over crying. It was a stabbing type of pain that spread across my abdomen, I cant remember how long the pain stayed with me. I'm sorry you are having to deal with this along with the other stuff. Sometimes it feels as if it will never end. Anytime I have a big increase in my pain I get nauseaus as well, the things pain does to us...Please try and take it easy(and no more yard sales til then until Mon but if it worsens I would seek medical attention. Please let us know how your doing.......((((hugs))))

yes ...for sure

cindyLou
yes for sure go tothe er if you can ...you will know when that baby bursts that's for sure. When mine burst I was in Las Vegas at the MGM Grande (no idea I even had cysts) ...it hit me like abrick wall...BANG! Whitin 10 seconds I went down to the floor with pain in my lower abs..(I have a extemely high pain tolerence) my body went into shock...i broke out in a cold sweat and ended up in the medical room of the MGM. Thank God one of my party was with me or I don't know what I would have done alone. Also a angel from New York helped me to the washroom and kept me sponged down till the medics came.... trust me you will want to get to the hospital soon! I hope you are not alone either! I would think you are going tohave to have this taken care of soon! Good Luck and Godspeed sister!

Did any one have back ache with the cysts ? I have this area on my left lower back that hurts even to touch it. I 'm still aching on the left side . The sick feeling went away. I just called the office lady to find a sub for my class tomorrow. She was thrilled that I called on a Sunday night!!! I'm hoping the Dr is open on Veterans' Day.

Thanks for being here.

These Darn Cysts!!!!

I was wondering the same!!! Had my TAH/LSO a year ago, and feeling absolutely wonderful! I too had my left ovary removed due to cysts and one that ruptured a month before my surgery! YES....the pain was unbearable, worse than any childbirth I had given. But, just last week I started having pain in my right hip, that shoots down the leg and settles in my knee. Guess what??? Just like when my cyst ruptured. Only this time It took me a couple of days to realize that MAYBE it could be a cyst because the pain was tolerable because I wasn't hemmoraging and cramping as well! And last time the pain was in my left leg, and now its happening in the right (where my remaining ovary is). I definately dont think anything was rupturing, but do you think its the start of a cyst???? Oh boy, the things we have to go thru! Any input for me as well, would be appreciated. Another thought I had was adhesions!!! Thanks!

What could this mean?

(((Cathy))),
I would think the Drs office's would be open today? Please call for an appt. Pelvic pain from whatever cause can make your low back hurt and send pain down the front of your legs Please let us know how things went today...(((hugs))))

(((Mary))),
A cyst could be a possibility as well as Adhesions Cysts post-op seem to be a common occurance when retaining our Ovaries. Have you talked to your Dr about your pain? IMO, I would call him/her and let them know what is going on. Many times they will order imaging tests which will detect a cysts or rule out other more serious problems. Most of the time these tests will not detect Adhesions, if they are very dense like in a mass, obstructing or distorting something they will show whatever it is out of place. The only definate way is to go in which can cause more Adhesions Here are some links that have been helpful to me in my reserach as this is my biggest problem...Chronic Pelvic and Abdominal Pain due to Adhesions...
