TAH/kept ovaries. Menopause last 6 years. Is menopause gone now?
Menopause started creeping in like 6 years ago. Last 3 been on a fast downhill, hot flashes and oh those horrible night sweats(completely soaked my bed 3 or more times a night, from hair to feet) And was always so overwhelming tired, really drained for the last 2 years. Well now after hysterectomy I feel great(exc. for the obvious....feeling like I been cut open and had things ripped out of me LOL) No hot flashes, not one night sweat, and now I get tired for a reason! I feel like peaceful inside, leveled out. Its wonderful!! Im just afraid my new life post-op will be short lived b/c Im not sure if menopause is over? At about 2 weeks post I cryed ALL day, I took this to mean my ovaries were waking up??? Im 36 years old and due to hip surgerys at a young age(and the muscles not growing like supposed to, letting female parts sag)The dr said I might go through menopause early, well I did. Just dont know what to expect now?? Could it be over?? It has been a very long time but I feel like me again........inside, you know Been feeling really great emotionally!! Maybe someone can give me an idea. Could it finally be over???

Hi Kimberly I'm sooooo glad to hear you're doing so well. I wouldn't worry too much about the crying at 2 weeks post op. Lots of things can be happening around then. One is that you may still have some residual anesthesia in your system that's going away. Another is that those pain meds may be hanging around too, doing strange things to you. Finally, even though it sounds like you'd already gone through menopause before your surgery, the menopausal ovaries still continue to produce SOME hormones until much later in life... so you may have some fluctuations around that very low level... shouldn't be as dramatic as if your ovaries were still "working" prior to the surgery.
I hope you continue to heal and have a wonderfully easy recovery.

-Linda

Hi Linda !
Thank you for your response. I figured this was a tough question, since we are all so different(even though we are so much alike) Recovery is for the most part going really good I think, but not without the usual ups and downs!! Thank you again!!!!!
