Hi All,
Have not posted for a while as thankfully I have been feeling great!!, but the last week my scar has started to get red and sore, sore inside almost as if bruised? hurts more at the end of the day really uncomfortable! I have tried to wear different underwear, thinking irritation on scar area but it has made no difference? Why is this hurting now after so long I am now 14 months post op! Any ideas anyone.

s Sue! I'm sorry this is happening so far post-op.
I don't have much to offer, but the first thing that popped to mind was to ask if you're drying your scar area well? When I still had swelly belly, if I didn't take care to get the area entirely dry, it tended to do the same thing. It was a little sore, but I don't remember it feeling bruised
Sounds like you may have some sort of an infection, and if it doesn't clear up soon, I would definitely give your doc a call to be on the safe side.
Take care!
Stacey

Hi Sue, calling your dr sounds like a good idea. My scar is still red but I'm only 3 1/2 months post op but it doesn't feel bruised. I always say to err on the side of caution is best , so please call and check.Best wishes, keep us posted. s

Scar irritation
Sue: This may not be your problem, but this happens to me once in awhile, and I'm almost 4 yrs. post op. I've had my scar get all red and inflamed, and the first time I almost panicked! Then I got thinking, I use a special shampoo and conditioner for thicker hair. I shampoo in the shower. I found that if I wasn't really careful and rinsed the scar area, must be the shampoo and conditioner irritate. They are very tingly feeling, have herbs, etc. I've even had it get in my naval once, and thought I was really in trouble! I now rinse and if a little irritation starts I use neosporin to heal it. Just a thought!
