my visit to the castle

I had a TAH on Nov 12/02 and this is the first day that i have been actually able to sit at the computer this long to finally get my story out!

It seems like my operation was forever ago,but it also seems like it was just a dream(brain fog i guess).

Every thing went well before the operation. Afterwards was a different story. Apparently I was screaming in pain during the operation and they had to give me major pain killers-i don't remember that. I do however remember being in recovery-i was there for 5 hours. They could not get my pain under control-i remember writhing in pain in my bed off and on. The DR said afterwards that they called him because they didn't know what else to do. He said that I had enough morophine in my system to kill three people(gee that made me feel better) so they tried other painkillers-demerol being the one that finally worked. So I did not get the pleasure of having a pain pump afterwards-i had to get shots of demerol every 3 hours-not fun.

Other than that awful experience things have been okay-not much pain at all since leaving the castle-4 days ago. Only ha;d spotting for 2 days after TAH and very mimimal-i was surprised. I am having hot flashes and night sweats , which have not been pleasant! Swellybelly is very minimal now and I think i could wear my jeans if i had to(don't plan on it though!!!!!!!!!)

Sorry for the long post. Just needed to tell ;my story. Im sure i will be glad i did it when all this subsides!

Welcome home sister......

Welcome Home
I'm glad you are doing so well now that you are home......and you are right to take your time getting back to the computer.

I am a 11/4 princess and an email buff......and I just didn't for over a week! It wasn't even on my mind.

Oh the shots........give yourself a Did you get little bruises?
I had the demerol shots too (and little bruises).........they never even considered the morphine thing for me.....and I heard it had ups and downs with it. I never dreamed they would have to be SHOTS......I thought that was what the IV was for! I had shots every 4 hours....but they could give me a booster in the IV the first night.

Then, they switched me to darvaset (which made me sick------then I got shots in my arms for the nausea. I think they thought I was a pin cushion--I also had 3 pricks for IVs and more for blood drawn of course) -----then they switched me to IB and Codeine.
What about you........

Were you "under" when you were crying out in pain? I don't really know much about anesethesia......but that is incredible.

Well REST, REST, REST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And if you want to chat to another Nov princess......send me a line or two.

Love
Dee
