Fun for "cabin fever syndrome"

I am 3 weeks post op, have energy & willingness to go & do stuff, but my body is not yet fully back. So today, my daughter took me to the mall, we "rented" a wheelchair (it was free, just had to give them my driver's license) & I can't tell you how good it felt to really go out & stay out for a few hours. We parked the chair outside of stores, as I am up to that much walking, just used the chair so I could go all the way around the mall. It was wonderful. I think tomorrow we are going to the zoo. The chairs are easy to push, as I did this for a girlfriend last year that had bunion surgery. Lots of places have wheelchairs now, ladies. Think of all the options!! Just wanted to share.

Fun for "cabin fever syndrome"

I just wanted to add a note to this..........

my dh is in a wheelchair and we borrowed his extra chair when a friend of mine broke 3 bones in her foot so I could take her to an art festival. So..........you don't always have to go to places where you can rent a chair like a mall or a zoo............if you know anybody in a wheelchair they usually have an extra around in case one breaks down. Also many veterans organizations (Paralyzed Veterans of America is one of them) keep extra wheelchairs on hand and lend them out for as long as you need them at no cost..........they fold up and fit into most cars easily.

And of course.........we all know that Walmart has those fun motorized chairs with the big baskets on the front so you can go shopping!!

But remember, remember, remember............don't overdo to soon during recovery!

wtg sbfifer....

Susan,
Do you think you can find a chair with enough gas to get you to my house in NY? I don't know what I would have done without you these past couple of days.. If Doc. wont give me hormones today, I will just flip !!!!!!! You might see me on the 10:00 news..."NY woman goes beserk in Dr.'s office".. lol... Not strong enough to tear the office apart, but with these raging hormones I could scare the poop outta them with the hysterics...
hhmmm.. Maybe I should try that... Remember to follow all the traffic laws while in your chair, we wouldn't want you to get a ticket now, would we???? Happy rolling.... .Love Kim
