Gall Bladder Disease

Question for any sister who might be familiar with this.

I had my surgery a year ago this month. Found out last week that I have gall bladder disease--not gall stones but just disease. The gall bladder is tiny and contracted which dr says is a result of numerous attacks. He told me that this is something common in women who have more than two children, weigh a little more than they are supposed to and who have diabetes. (The diabetes is a new thing for me-was diagnosed in September, not sure if the pills are going to work, may have to do the insulin thing) Anyway, wondering if anyone out there had surgery so soon after the big one and any other suggestions, advice or whatever you have--I'll take it! Surgery is scheduled for 12:15 Tuesday November 27. Thanks as always for helping me ease my fears

Gall Bladder Disease

Hi Stacie!!!

long time no hear sweetie!!

I haven't had any probs with the ole gall bladder yet myself ( knock on wood) but from what I have heard here and from my girlfriend who just had surgery for the same thing it can be a pretty simple surgery...within a week my friend was up and doing yardwork....I couldn't believe it. She seemed to do just fine honey....

Hopefully someone who has been thru it will be along shortly to give more insight....

Gall Bladder Disease

I had gallbladder surgery August 31, 2001 and my hysterectomy April 5, 2002. The gallbladder surgery was easy compared to the hysterectomy. They did it laprascope and little recovery time.

Gall Bladder Disease

Thanks for the words of advice. I cannot believe it has been a whole year since I had my surgery. Things were rough there for awhile. I was supposed to be having a lap to look for adhesions in late December, but my father died suddenly on December 22 so that was put off. The surgeon tomorrow is going to look around while he is there, which will ease my mind quite a bit. Only problem with all of this is that we are having two Christmas parties-one on Dec. 7 for the guys that work for my husband and the another on Dec. 14 for all the managers and the VP of his company-I hope that it can all get done. The decorations are out and my sister is doing Thanksgiving and since my Dad's death my Mom is living next door and will help out, but I am really hoping it goes as easy as it sounds like it will.

Again, thanks for all the support!

Gall Bladder Disease

Hi Stacie,

Sorry to hear that you lost your Father. The first week after the gallbladder surgery is was just sore and tired but the second week I was painting my front porch. Just take it easy and watch the lifting. My hysterectomy was a long process also. Not what I had hoped. But on the mends now.
