Questions about my testosterone cream

Hi Ladies,

I just started my tesosterone cream tonight. A few questions, if any one can answer (I guess I should have asked the pharmacist). I have 20gm Testosterone 0.2% in plo. Does anyone know what plo could be? Also how long before it starts to work? How will I know it is working? What should I be looking for? It says for libido and energy. Is there anything else it will help, like vaginal dryness? The prescription says apply 1cc to external genitalia 3 times a week for 3 wks, then twice weekly for 3 wks, then weekly. I really hope this works. My libido has been diminishing for the last few years, now it is nil, nada, none. Wish me luck!

Thanks for all the support

Questions about my testosterone cream

Hi Mary Ann! PLO base is a "pluronic lecithin organogel" base. It's known to help the testosterone absorb rapidly.

When I started using testosterone I noticed an increase in energy within about 3 days. Also I started feeling much more like my "old self", more like before the surgery - more spunky, where I had felt pretty lethargic without it. My DR told me it would take about 2 weeks for my libido to return, and sure enough, it did, at day 13. At about that time, maybe a little earlier, I noticed that I no longer had a problem with vaginal dryness and could stop using the Replens.

I'm very happy for you that you're getting to try the testosterone. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you will like it as much as I do. I consider it every bit as important as estrogen in my overall balance.

Good luck!

-Linda

Hi Linda,

Thank you so much for your reply. One more question, did you lose weight from the cream. I just got on the scale and gained another 1 1/2 lbs this week. This is getting very discouraging. I lost 25 lbs about 5 yrs ago and have kept it off since. This year my thyroid went and I had the hyst in sept. I have now put on all the weight I lost. The pharmacy said I should lose some weight from the cream. I hope so.

Thanks again,

Mary Ann

Questions about my testosterone cream

first make sure your thyroid stuff is balanced out. i aslo had great benefits form the test...but for me it took weeks to feel good again..i had the same results as linda. it did cause me to lose the weight that i had pu on post hyst....so this was an lovely added benefit. i just tried cutting back my dose (i'm on a high dose) and i gained back 2 lbs instantly.

Questions about my testosterone cream

I've only lost maybe 3 or 4 pounds so far and I had put on quite a bit when I was early post op and on a high dosage of estrogen alone (made me ravenous). I keep hoping more will come off though, and at least I stopped gaining!
