Feel like a balloon

Why is my tummy bloated so much and how long will this last? Some days I feel like the bloating is going down and then it turns right around and comes back. I am able to go to the bathroom and relieve myself from having gas [though not alot]. I'm not drinking carbonated beverages and I'm not eating gassy foods. Is this normal? I know your answers aren't those of a I'm just wanting to know if others have had this and if so, approximately how long does it last?

Feel like a balloon

Hi Dindy

I felt bloated for about 3 weeks or so -- not sure exactly when it went away (it was gradual), but I'm pretty sure that by the 4th week post I was doing better.

The Colace and Gas-X really helped --- I kept taking them for at least a month, then gradually weaned off them.

I hope this helps! You're not alone, but if you're concerned give your Doc a call.

Feel like a balloon

I think the "bloated tummy" your are experiencing is what many other sisters here have experienced. I have had the same type of symptoms, too. It's what we call "swelly belly". It's part of your body's healing process, and is quite normal. You are definitely not alone, and it will eventually go away.

There are lots of posts about it that you might want to read. I had my worst problems with swelly belly from week 2 to week 5 of my recovery. I'm now noticing that it's not so bad any more. The hardest part is finding comfortable fitting clothes.

Hope this helps. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Feel like a balloon

I was the same way after my surgery, in fact I had to pull out all my old maternity clothes because I couldnt get any pants on. Today is my 4wks date and I finally feel like my tummy is going flatter, but if Im moving around all day by the end of the day it comes back.

Feel like a balloon

My surgery was back in early October and my belly just started going down! I think it was bigger at 7 weeks than it was at 3 weeks lol. It does go away, just takes some time!
