Incision Revision Anyone?

Hi sisters! I am a little over a year post op and my vertical scar looks horrible. I had a TAH/BSO with first stage ovarian cancer in my left ovary. They removed so much tissue from my left side that I now have what looks more like a breast than a scar. I am serious, it is gross and discusting. Does any one else have a long horizonal "wrinkle" way below their belly button? Well, he didn't even line it up right when he sewed me up. I am not much of a seamtress, but I think I could sew a little straighter. Of course I realize things could be much worse, but this REALLY bothers me. I hate to look in the mirror, I hate for my DH to see my scar. Every one that has seem it says that they think my Doctor totally botched the incision. My question is, has any one else had surgery to correct a scar? Does insurance cover it? I hope you don't think I am being vain, I wish I could send a picture. I still can't button my pants because pressure on the scar is painful. Any suggestions? My doctor would NEVER admit that he messed up. He is the one that told me hormones or lack of them have NOTHING to do with moods, depression, hair loss, etc. DUH! Thank you for any responses in advance and Happy Holidays to you and yours. wishes for everyone!

Incision Revision Anyone?

I had a horizontal incision. My doc went thru the same incision that I had from a laprotomy. I continued to have lots of pain in the incisional area along with some other stuff. I never imagined that there was actually a problem with the incision. My gyn referred me to a general surgeon and the first thing the surgeon told me was "I can fix that incision for you, it looks awful". In Feb of last year I had an incision revision.

I am so very pleased with the results. He actually *moved* the incision. It previously was way above my bikini line and it now sits below my bikini line. It is not bumpy or lumpy anymore. It is very smooth and not very noticeable at all. In fact, I've had a few of my other docs comment on how lovely it looks.

My insurance did cover the surgery. However, I also had scar tissue removed. I remember my doc telling the nurse exactly what to put down to make sure that the insurance would cover it. I think he called it "incision revision and neuroma removal".

Have you talked with your gyn about your continued pain? Perhaps he could refer you to someone? Or if you have a good family doctor you could ask him/her.

Good luck sweetie

Thank you!

Kim, thanks so much for sharing that with me, it made me feel alot better. I mean I am not a model or anything, but it is my body and I just want it to look normal! If I wanted breast inplants, it sure wouldn't be one sided below my waist. Catherine, I didn't understand what you meant by bumping this to the top. Yes, I have the dreaded brain fog! Happy Holidays!

Incision Revision Anyone?

Your thread had sunk to the bottom of the page. By Catherine doing the it came back to the top so that others could see it. Posts are sorted in date order and sometimes they can drop to the second page and out of sight. When looking at threads sometimes people don't go beyond the first page.

I'm glad I saw your thread and that I could help. Good luck and please keep us posted on what happens with your incision.

Catherine, thanks for bumping me to the top! Kim, thanks for explaining that to me, I can be real dense sometimes. DENSEFOG, hey that sounds like a good screen name for me! I sure will keep you informed. I will send pictures of me in my bikini. AFTER my incision revision, liposuction, face lift, breast inplants and tummy tuck. HEHEHE!
