Progesterone cream dosing Audrey/Trish?

Hi ladies,
I did a search about progesterone dominance and have come up with very little info. In women with hysterectomies is taking a week off every month the right thing to do or will it throw my body into chaos??? LOL I use the cream at night. Just a dab. Does this build up in our systems? Is it necessary to take that week off? Help!!!

Progesterone cream dosing Audrey/Trish?

Hi (((Tracy))) it's a very individual thing. Some ladies do find it builds up in the system and starts to cause symptoms (I am one of those; I am on a pretty low dose of estrogen so the symptoms I got were those of too little estrogen rather than the drowsiness and depression you hear about relative to progesterone excess). Others don't have a problem. I would just say pay close attention to what your body is telling you. And remember if you do take some time off, it takes several days for the excess progesterone to leave your body when you've been on the creams.

I hope this helps!
s,
-Linda

Thanks Linda

Is it necessary to take that week off like the tube says to do? I have been feeling a bit drowsy but only mid-afternoon. Like I could take a nap! Not sure if it's the cream or if it's just the normal stress of the holidays and maybe a bit of a virus. Hubby is tired as well. I feel very balanced other than being a bit tired mid-day. Perhaps it's AGE? LOL Just not sure if I NEED to take that week off for health reasons. I don't want to do anything that might harm my health. Is there such a thing as progesterone dominance? I'm curious if Audrey takes a week off every month of her prometrium? I'd rather not as I am worried I will disrupt this "normal" me I have finally found!

Thanks for the info, as always!

Progesterone cream dosing Audrey/Trish?

Tracy,
I've been using a compounded progesterone cream for close to 3 years now and I use it daily. I did find that after about the first year or so I did tweak my dose downward alot. For me, I think that the creams did have a build up effect.

If you have a uterus you have to cycle to make sure that the uterine lining sheds. That's why the tubes all say that. It's insurance for women in perimenopause. Without a uterus you can do anything you want.

So whatever feels good for you is fine. I personally putter on and off it. I don't seem to need it the way I did when I first started my low dose estrogen--that was probably the shock after 6 months without it, but I find a little bit of progesterone helps.

And as usual, stress is going to make your needs change and this is a stressful time of year. I personally think not having to cycle is a great blessing.

Thank you ladies

Thank you ladies! I'd prefer not to have to stop the cream as I am afraid of losing this balance I have achieved. Thanks for the explanation!
