Eight week post op check today
In a way, glad to go in and hear the cuff is healed. In a way, dreading going in and dealing with my surgeon, who is steadily falling downhill in my people rating system. On Dec 11th, I called him concerning some adjustment in my HRT and he was brusque as usual. Then he made some crude joke when I was making a very serious point about decreased libido. (not going to quote it since it might offend some readers as much as it did me) At this point, discussion of my sexuality with this guy is off limits. DH is ready to kick his butt over this one too.
What happened here is very inappropriate and I am feeling very vunerable about doing a pelvic with a man who made light of something that has me seriously concerned and affects my relationship with my husband. I've done three surgeries with this guy and that crude remark was really out of character. Thank goodness for hystersisters and the women who have similar problems. I get a safe place to discuss what is going on minus judgment. I can get thru this, but it will not be pleasant. DH is coming in for the exam and consult this time since it is unlikely the jerk behavior will be displayed in front of a witness. And I will be addressing this inappropriate behavior to this surgeon's face.
The saving grace in all this is I called my local gyn, who wasn't able to do my hyster since there is no qualified urologist locally that I would trust to do the tension-free vaginal taping technique. Jeff is a real sweetie pie, approachable and isn't the type to make light of serious patient concerns. This guy was totally emotionally available to me during my miscarriage and to my friend during her miscarriage this week. I think Jeff gets that it isn't cool to stomp all over a patient's vunerable emotional spots. And Jeff isn't going to quickly dismiss it and say it is psychological, write a script for anti-depressants and send me out without helping. He will recognize the organic/hormonal basis of the low libido and take appropriate action.
Going to have a mammogram today as well. Address all the medical testing I can while insurance is paying 100%. Little worried that if they had trouble with my breast tissue being too dense last year that they are going to really have trouble this mammogram. I have gone from a 38B cup pre-op to about a 38AA cup. Not that many 38AA cups on the racks! I tried an A cup and there was plenty of room to spare. We might be resorting to ultrasound like we did last year. Small calcification in the right breast, it checked out okay last year and hasn't changed in the meantime, so no worries.
Hopefully, we will get this all over and done with fast and start the 2.5 hour drive home before the snow/ice storm hits.

I feel for ya! How awful to have a surgeon with an attitude like that. The doctors who are really sensitive to their patients' needs are true gems, I have found, as so many docs seem to acquire 'tudes with their titles.
Best of everything with the checkups and the mammo. I'm glad that your dh is going to accompany you--THAT will squelch some of the problem.
Time to start shopping for the sexiest push up, padded bras you can find! Meanwhile, I hope that the mammo experience goes well and that the calcifications have not changed.
Keep us posted, OK???
