Surgery Report?????

Hi Everyone,

I have a question. I heard that there is a surgery report that states in detail everything that happens when we are at the hospital and what is done to us, including details regarding the surgical procedure. I'm wondering if this is the case and how I can get a copy of this report. If any of you know about this I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks

SusieSis

Surgery Report?????

Hi Susiesis

You can get a copy from your doctor's office (when I went to my appt. I just asked for a copy and they gave it to me). You can also get a copy from the hospital, but they will probably charge you.

Surgery Report?????

Hi Susiesis,
You can ask your Dr for a copy. You may also request one from the records department at the hospital. To get mine from the hospital I had to sign a consent for release form. I was also told to write I wanted it for further medical care. (Without that phrase I would have been charged.)

Good luck

Surgery Report?????

Good question! I was just sitting here thinking the same thing. I just had my 6 week post op exam and my dr didn't tell me squat. I mean, he is real nice and all but I had to ask all kinds of questions that he kind of just pooed pooed at. I will be asking for my report too! Take care!

Surgery Report?????

Hi,
Yes, you can ask your doc for a copy of the surgery report and the pathology report if you wish. It describes what went on in surgery.

A word of warning: I think it's best if you can have your doc sit down with you at your check-up and go over the reports and explain things right then and there. There is a lot of medical jargon in these reports, and some of it may sound alarming to us laypeople. I know it did to me, yet I was assured that all was fine.

Surgery report

Hi! I went to the records dept of my hospital and after signing the consent form, I got copies of my operative and pathology report, even got a copy of the photo my doc took of my reproductive system after it got it out.. (Not a pretty pic to say the least, but I was able to see the nasty tumors that had been giving me all my problems). I wasnt charged for any of this, and passed on the pic to my primary care physician, who hadnt seen it yet.. Take Care and Happy New Year!
