Leg Pains

The question I have is I have been on Premarin 1.25 since Nov 11, they put me on paxil 10mg, on 26th of Nov. because I was still getting hot flashes, well I am still getting hot flashes, not as many as before but I now have pain in my legs. and the pain was getting worse it seemed by the day in both legs. So I stopped the Paxil because it seemed to be worse with the Paxil. It has been almost 2 weeks since I stopped the Paxil and the pain has gotten much better, but I still have some pain in the legs. I do not have a doctor yet seeing we just moved so I wanted your thoughts on this.
Could it be the Premarin doing this? I did not have No pain in the legs when I was on Estrace. I still have estrace about 3 months worth and was thinking on going back to them seeing no matter what I do I still have the hot flashes. I was on 2 mg of estrace.
I would really like to know what you think. And what could be causeing this pain in my legs. My legs are not hot, no spots nothing weird about the look of them, just the pain. I first thought it was from all the movement I have been doing with moving etc. but I do not think that is it anymore.

Sorry so long. I hope everyone had a nice holiday and I wish you a Happy New Year.
Thanks for your thoughts on this.

Leg Pains

Hi (((Chele))), I was just wondering how you were doing and here you are! The leg pains are soooo common in the Jungle... most of us have them at one time or another. About the only thing most of us agree on is that they are hormone related. Mine are bearable as long as I am on a glucosamine-chondroitin supplement.

I'll be interested to see what some of the other sisters have to say about this.

-Linda

Leg Pains

Hi Chele'

As Linda says, these kind of pains are common in the Jungle. I've been suffering from aches and pains too---mostly in my hips and lower back and shoulders. Some days I'm okay, and others I feel so achey I take some Motrin. I've been on Estradiol 1 mg. (generic for Estrace) almost since my surgery, and these symptoms have developed (more consistently) just over the last few months. I've recently incorporated a dab of Progesterone Creme at night, (to help with insomnia) and a smidgen of testosterone gel a few times a week (to help with libido).

I believe these aching symptoms have a variety of reasons--but are most significantly related to hormones. I read somewhere that the uterus produces something called "relaxin"---which supports joint and vascular health. When the uterus is removed, so is the relaxin. So unsure if we can completely blame estrogen as the culprit!

I also notice my aches and pains seem to more likely occur when the barometer is falling and cold front is coming in Also, when I am stressed or not getting enough rest, they are worse.

Since you noticed you felt better on the Estrace, perhaps you should discuss it with your doc and see if he/she recommends you give that a try again. I've heard some women feel great on one form of estrogen and lousy on the other (i.e. Premarin vs. Estrace, or Estrace vs. the patch). (Incidentally, I did try the patch for one week a few months after my surgery and I felt awful on it, so went back to Estradiol).

As far as your question about the Paxil---it never affected me with achey joints....although everyone is different. Also, as Linda mentioned glucosamine chondroitin is a good supplement. My mother has fibromyalgia and swears by g/c. I'm also adding it to my regimen.

Sheesh, what a jungle! Good luck on finding your balance, and I hope some of this helps.

Leg Pains

hi, I also get leg pain. I am taking 3.5 pumps of estrogel daily. I have also used compounded estrogen cream and am currently using estring. I am not sure what causes this. I was told it was perhaps flaubitis. Dr. was unsure. At times I can feel little hard lumps in the worst places. I woke last night with major pain in my calves. Anyway It would be nice to know the cause
Good luck.

Leg Pain In right Calf

Hi All-
I have had this calf pain everysay for the past 2 wks too. I am on img of Estriadiol. Went to the dr Monday and he thought it was muscular pain. I wstill wonder if its related to estrogen. I do have progesterone cream which I ordered from this site but do not use it often. Muscle relaxants and Advil do not seem to help this pain. I wonder what it can be. Problem is years ago I had pheblitis in this same leg so I am keeping a watch on it. Thanks for listening. I love this board!
