Surgery report

I have my 4 wk appt. on Monday and I was wondering if anyone knows if all the pathology reports are usually back by this time.

I also have read many posts and it seems like many sisters have their surgical report. I have my report from my laparoscopy, d & c, and ablation (all done same time), due to the fact that I switched DRs and I brought it to my present DR for my first appt. I found it very helpful to have this report, as I didn't remember in depth what she told me after I woke up - still groggy from anesthesia. I also think it helped me know what was going on inside me.

Is this something many of you have asked for? I guess I just like to be in complete control and know everything. I take alot of meds for other medical problems and do see a few specialists for other problems and I really like to have info on absolutely everything. I guess it makes me feel like I can make more informed decisions about things. Is it stupid to ask for a report? Would I ask my MD or check w/ hospital? I'd really appreciate any input on this.

Surgery report

I asked my Dr for my pathology report and he was happy to give it to me.He had explained everything on it,but it was nice to come home and look everything up on this site and feel very secure in my knowledge.I had my appt at 6 weeks and they had called me at 3 to let me know everything was benign,so your Dr should probably have it for you. Take care,

Surgery report

After surgery, my doc was able to tell me that what he found was ovarian
cancer and info about what he saw on sight and he said he was able to get
all he could see. I went in for staple removal at 1 wk and he was hoping
to have path rpt, but didn't. So I waited to see him for post op check at 3
wks and path rpt was in then. At that point I got the staging info and the good
news that IT DIDN'T SPREAD!!!!!

Hi debcer,

No, I don't think it's stupid at all to ask for your surgery and path report. It's also your right. I hope you can sit down with your doctor and have him go through the reports with you. I got mine after my post-op visit. My doc had assured me that all was perfectly fine and I've had a problem-free recovery so I trust him, but there were many weird things in the report that I didn't understand and wished I could have asked him about. So I hope you have the chance to have your doc explain it all to you!

Surgery report

Thanks you guys! I really found having my lap report useful. There were things that the DR didn't go over, nothing important, but just nice to know all the details. Cindi, I'm glad they got everything. Best wishes to you all!
