Sick And Tired Of Being Sick And Tired!!!!

HELLO LADIES,

I GUESS YOU FIGURED OUT BY MY TOPIC THAT I HAVE ABOUT HAD IT. I WENT FOR MY 6WK POST OP VISIT (I AM 7WKS BECAUSE OF HOLIDAYS) AND MY LEFT SIDE HAS BEEN HURTING. AND THE NITE BEFORE MY DR. APPT. I LOST A INTERNAL STITCH AND ALL MY UTI PROBLEMS THAT I HAVE BEEN HAVING STOPPED. SO I THOUGHT ***YEH*** I GO TO THE DR. AND HE TELLS ME EVERYTHING LOOKS GOOD AND THE STITCH WAS PROBABLY HOLDING BACK URINE AND WHEN IT RELEASED IT STOPPED.. BOY AM I THANKFUL BECAUSE 5WKS OF PAIN IN THE URINE WAS BAD..

WELL THEN WE GOT ON THE SUBJECT OF MY SIDE AND MY IBS PROBLEMS. AND WOULD YOU BELIEVE WHEN HE WAS DOING THE EXAM HE SAID HE COULD FEEL HOW SWOLLEN MY BOWELS WERE AND THAT MY HEMMEROIDS WERE SO HUGE FROM EVERYTHING BEING SWOLLEN. HE WANTS ME TO HOLD OFF ON PAIN MANAGEMENT FOR ANOTHER MONTH. AND WANTS TO GET MY IBS UNDER CONTROLL. SEE I HAVE BEEN HAVING DIARREHIA SO BAD FOR THE PAST TWO WEEKS(HAVE HAD IBS FOR 3YRS NOW) THAT WHEN I PUT THE LITTLEST THING IN MY MOUTH ABOUT 10MIN LATER I HAVE TO RUN TO THE BATHROOM. SO I HAVE BEEN STUCK INSIDE ON THE TOILET. I HURT ALL IN MY BOWELS AND BACK AREA. NOW HE WANTS TO TRY ME ON A DRUG THAT WAS TAKEN OFF THE MARKET YEARS AGO CALL LOTRINEX BECAUSE DR. WERE PRESCRIBING IT FOR THE WRONG REASON. LIKE CONSTIPATION AND IT CAUSES MORE CONSTIPATION AND PATIENTS STARTED HAVE BOWEL OBSTRUCTION AND LOSS OF BOWEL FUNCTIONS. SO THEY TOOK IT OFF THE MARKET. THEN THEY DECIDE THEY WOULD ONLY ALLOW PEOPLE WHO HAVE SEVERE IBS WITH DIARREHIA TO USE IT ON A EXPERIMENTAL CASE ONLY. AND THE DR. HAS GOT TO GO THREW ALL THIS PAPER WORK WITH THE PHARMACIETICAL COMPANY TO GET IT APPROVED FOR ME.. AND TOLD ME WHEN I DO START TAKING IT THAT IF I AM CONSTIPATED FOR ONLY 3DAYS AND NO MORE TO CALL HIM AND TO NOT TAKE ANYTHING TO MAKE ME GO, BECAUSE HE WANT TO WATCH FOR BOWEL OBSTRUCTION.... SO NOW I AM BACK TO BE SCARED, SICK, TIRED, WEAK AND WISH THIS VICIOUS CYCLE WOULD END...

I AM SORRY IF I BORED YOU BUT I REALLY NEEDED TO TALK TO SOMEONE AGAIN AND YOU ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT UNDERSTAND AND LISTEN... WHAT DO I DO NOW....... JUST DONT KNOW ANYMORE.. NICKY

P.S. I AM GLAD MY BAD PERIODS ARE GONE, BUT WANT THE REST TO GO AWAY....................

Sick And Tired Of Being Sick And Tired!!!!

{{{{Sadly}}}}
I am so very sorry sweetie. I know this Road is hard and can be frustrating. It does sound like your doctor is trying to help. It can be a slow process. I've lost count of all the numerous meds I've tried at one time or another.

Hang in there, feel free to vent away. We're here for you!

they introduced a drug for constipating IBS to the market

recently. www.ibsvilliage.com.

I have seen drastic improvement in my IBS by doing one simple diet change, eliminating dairy. The GI doc has me on a program of eliminating certain foods that might be allergens or irritants, one at a time so we can determine if my gut is sensitive to things like wheat, corn, sucrose, lactose etc. The first six weeks post-op, my bowels were super active, fast transit time. Might have been a side effect of the surgery and the subsequent reorganization of the abdominal organs. Might have been that I was allergic to colace too and I was taking that to protect the rectocele repair post op.

Nicky, this is a hard road to walk. I compare it to mountain climbing in high heels, a tight skirt and a push up bra some days. But I do think in time, I will be better equipped to deal with the problems I have and it will be like I was given some hiking boots and a safety rope. And I do have to pace myself in one specific way: trying a therapy for awhile and giving it a chance to work. When I have a night like last night where I couldn't sleep and everything hurt, hard to keep that resolve to work thru my problems systematically.

The other thing that is helping me hike this road is the companionship I have now. I didn't have this board when dealing with my IBS/FMS/CFS etc. before a few months ago. I also did not have tour guides like my new gyn, my new endocronologist, my new gastro and soon, a rheumotologist. It makes the journey easier.

I hear you loud and clear

I have the diahrrea problem every since I had my gallbaldder removed. Are you taking calcium?
And if so what kind?
I have an article on calcium carbonate and stopping diahrrea.
You can email me if you like, and I can send it to you.
It works pretty well for the type I have. It does take some tweaking (what doesn't) to get it right, but it helped quickly, and as long as I keep taking it, I do pretty well most of the time.
If your diahrrea is the bright yellow, burning, really watery kind this may help you. Sorry to be so descriptive, but it is all related to bile, ( which is yellow) and bile malabsorption, which is what makes me have to run to the toilet within 10 minutes of eating ANYTHING.
I am having a tough time with other things too, mainly insomnia, and having the squirts on top of it is miserable.
Hang in there, it HAS to get better, right?

Hugs,

Shazz

THANKS !!

MEDHANDDADOG,SHAZZ,KIM,

FIRST OFF THANK YOU!! AND JUST WANT YOU TO KNOW I KNEW I COULD COUNT ON YOU LADIES..

SECOND, I HAVE BEEN ON THE STRICT DIET FOR 3YRS NOW, NO THIS, NO THAT, EAT THIS EAT THAT. ALL OF WHAT M. DOG SAID AND DOES. AND I STAY WAY AWAY FROM DAIRY. AND THE DR. TOOK ME OFF THE CALCIUM BECAUSE IT SEEMED TO MAKE ME VOMIT MORE.. SHAZZ YOU CAN STILL PM ME AND TELL ME THE ARTICLE TO READ. I WILL STILL GO FOR ANYTHING. RIGHT NOW..

AND YES MY DIARREHIA IS THE KIND WITH THE YELLOW, BURNING BILE. EVERY SINGLE TIME.. NOT JUST ONCE, BUT ABOUT 5-6 TIMES A DAY AND MY INTESTINES AND BOWELS ARE SO SWOLLEN, THE DR. SAID HE COULD FEEL THEM AND THEY FELT REAL THICK, WHICH SINCE I HAVE THE DIARREHIA WE KNOW THERE IS NOT A OBSTRUCTION.. HE ALSO THINKS THE ADHESIONS MAY BE TRYING TO COME BACK AND MAKING IT WORSE..

TO TOP IT OFF THEY ARE STILL TRYING TO GET MY MED. APPROVED TODAY.. IF I COULD JUST GET THE DIARREHIA TO STOP AND RELAX MY STOMACH I WOULD FEEL SO MUCH BETTER.. I HAVE BEEN DIZZY TODAY AND CALLED THE DR. AND HE SAID TO NOT TAKE ANYTHING FOR THE DIARREHIA UNTIL HE CAN SEE WHAT HE CAN DO, BECAUSE THE BOWEL IS SWOLLEN HE IS AFRAID I WILL IMPACT REAL FAST AND SOMETHING MAY BURST......

THANK YOU LADIES, I AM AT MY WITTS END WITH THIS... AND TO YOU
KIM THANKS FOR SAYING I CAN VENT HERE!! BECAUSE I NEEDED A ROAD TO VENT ON WITHOUT SCARING THE OTHER SISTERS IN POST OP.... SAY A BIG PRAYER THIS WILL STOP EVEN IF IT IS FOR ONE DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!NICKY

Sick And Tired Of Being Sick And Tired!!!!

Nicky,
I will most definetly say some ers for you. I've had IBS for 10+ years now and the hyst does seemed to have made things worse for me. It's also changed things for me. I used to always have the constipation form of IBS and now it seems to be more the opposite.

I know what you mean about diet. I found out last June that on top of being lactose intollerant I'm allergic to many foods and am now on a severely restricted diet. It helped for awhile but doesn't seem to be helping much anymore.

I hope you're able to get the meds and that they help.

((((((Nicky)))))))

Sorry to hear how much trouble you are having, Nicky. I have Inflammatory Bowel Disease (which was originally thought to be IBS). I have tried a lot of things over the years, and for the past few years have been on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet which my gastroenterologist now prescribes to his patients. It has worked well for many people with IBS as well. If you do a search with any of the search engines you will find a number of websites that discuss it.

When I am as symptomatic as you are I give my bowels a rest. Clear liquids (homemade chicken broth, unsweetened apple juice, etc. and I make my own gelatine with diluted fruit juice and unflavoured gelatine). When things are a bit better I add soft, low residue foods, always cooked. Like cauliflower (believe it or not), canned peaches and pineapple, lean meat, etc. I stay away from all grains, rice and milk. That calms me down and along with retention enemas I have been able to manage my disease.

I'm trying to give you just a general idea of what I do, not the exact details, because if you're interested you can find more details yourself, or PM me.

As for the sore bum, do you use vaseline or Lasser's paste or something like that? Helps a lot!!

I really hope things settle down soon.

Joselle
