coming up on 5 weeks still need pain pill at night

i just need to get some feedback from anyone who may have had similar experience. i've been needing to take 1 1/2 Darvons a day for the past week. i start to get bad pressure when on my feet for 20 minutes. ok when in bed and sitting. went to doctor today. saw his partner. I like her and have had her before.
She is quite young, but that may not matter. Anyway, I have heard so many confliting stories. Some women talk about this pressure from standing at my stage, one nurse said it wasn't normal, another nurse say it was. The doctor said it wasn't normal, I don't know what my real dr will say. doc tested my bladder with catheter said that it is ok. Said my cervix (the only thing I kept was ok),checked internally two times (vaginally and rectum). I told her the pressure is in my lower abs and feels like menstrual cramps. Also sometimes my vulva feels pressure, but I had an abdominal hyst. (don't know if that matters here). She said that she thought she felt something at the end of her fingertip when doing the rectal for the 2nd time. She told me to go get a CatScan which I will try to get
done tomorrow because i am totally freaked out. She said what she felt might just be a piece of an upcoming bowel movement. My bm's have been normal and easy since day 3. She checked my abs and said she didn't feel a hernia, but that a scan of the pelvis will show that. She said that adhesions would cause a different type of pain than what I described(like menstrual cramps and pressure). Now I am totally freaking. Thoughts of colon cancer, etc. i just have to believe it is not colon cancer. She didn't say she thought it was but didn't reassure me that it wasn't when I asked if she thought that is what it might be. i am scared. Any similar experiece with ANY part of mine?

Hi cobblecat - Sorry you're having this scary time! For what it's worth, I'm 4 weeks PO yesterday and after standing for periods of time or running errands, I feel like everything from my lower back (especially left side) and down is going to fall out. Feels somewhat like menstrual cramps, as you described. And I've wanted to take a Darvacet just about every night, but I've tried not to. I'm going to ask my doc about it when I go in Thursday. I'm glad you're getting the cat scan taken care of tomorrow - please let us hear how that goes. Wih I could offer more help, but just wanted you to know that our surgery dates are not that far apart, and I'm feeling what sounds like similar pain, at least by the afternoon. Lying down with the heating pad does give some relief. Will keep you in my prayers.
blessings,
catherine
