Stomach swelling

I had a complete hysterectomy on 12-2-02. I found this site after I came home from the hospital and have enjoyed reading everyone's messages.

The doctor found some small tumors and we decided to go ahead and do the surgery.
I had the bikini cut and boy have I been sore!!!!

The problem I am having now is with the swelling in my stomach area. It was 6 weeks Tuesday
(1-14-03 and I still have problems trying to wear anything other than sweats.

Has anyone else experienced this? How long will it be before I can get back in my jeans?

Stomach swelling

Broken Bow, I will be 6 weeks post op tomorrow and stll having pain near my inciosion (vertical) also the swelling comes and goes. I can wear jeans but only for a short while. The stretch jeans are the most comfortable that i found. Have you had your 6 wk. check yet? I go next Mon. the 20th, and supposed to be back @ work the 21st. I'm having uneasy feelings returning to work that soon being still so tender and all. I am a nurse and my job requires a lot of lifting so hopefully he will consider this and give me more time off. Take care and elevate those legs often, I find helps with the swelly belly. By the way we share Aug. birthdays. Have a speedy recovery, all will be well. Bertha J.

Stomach swelling

Maybe your old jeans don't fit, but who says you can't buy some bigger ones. Just get one or two pairs for now. They are almost as comfortable as sweats and i find that if they are a little snug across the stomach, it actually feels better than jostling around in sweats.

The swelling is excess fluids and will just have to go away with time. Meantime, i'm hoping that by watching how much i eat and by exercising, when the swelling goes away fat won't be there in it's place.

Take care,
Penny

Jeans......what a subject!
Well with my experience I went back to work quite early, only part time and I was working full time at 6 weeks. How did I get by?? I really wanted to do it I guess. Anyways, the clothes just would not fit. I found that if I wore a tight panty or controlled top underware it made the clothes fit much better. Not to mention holding my tummy in so that it did not hurt so much during the day at work. Just wanted to le tyou know.......maybe it is something you might want to try. By the way I would recommend wearning the panties for only a short time at first till the tummy gets used to it!!!

Stomach swelling

Hi! Swelly belly is pretty common. I'm sure you won't be glad to hear this, but, it can go on for up to a year post op. Lots of adjustments and healing still goes on in there after we are well enough to do our regulalr routines. Many princesses report that it is more prevalent when they are especially active. Everyone is different.

I did a search for you. Here are a couple of links to click on and read a bit more about it:
