Daughter on Premarin

I am not sure if this is the right place to place this question. My 21 year old daughter was given 7 day supply of premarin to control her painful period. I have never heard of such a thing. Has anyone heard of this for such a young person. I am so afraid I have pass my bad genetics off to my daugthers. Her gyn told her that she need more estrogen along with her birth control bills.

Daughter on Premarin

Jazitones,
I'm sorry I don't know the answer to your question, but I do know that Birth control pills are sometimes given to patients to help with periods and BC pills contain a high dose of estrogen. Adding premarin if she is already taking BC pills does seem like alot of estrogen for such a young person.

When I was having problems with my periods the doctor prescribed bc pills and than when that didn't help he prescribed provera, which is a progestin.

Hopefully someone else here will know the answer to your question. I'm sending along some s for you and your daughter.

Daughter on Premarin

i also don't know the answer to your question but i do have the same concerns. my 20 yr old dd has had incapacitating cramps for yrs, (they had her on 800 mg's of ibuprofen, then when that stopped working-percocet-til that made her vomit) now the dr has put her on the continuous birth control pill......no periods or very light ones. i am concerned about this too, but i have to tell you, it's great not to see her absolutely miserable for a week every month. let me know how this works out.
