Tummy bigger Shirt didn't fit this AM

Calling all Sisters:

Well, I really am beside myself. Especially since my favorite pink shirt didn't fit over my tummy this AM. I have noticed my tummy looked larger 2 weeks ago, now it really looks larger and it sure feels larger.

So far, I have been told I have Endo (again) and Ovarian Cysts which are irregularly shaped but functional. That's it. I've read about ovarian cancer and the most obvious symptom is abdominal enlargement.

The only tests I have had at the Dr's is a sonogram in Dec. Will have my post-op visit on Jan 28th for TVH which is on the 31st.

Should I be worried or get on the phone and insist on tests NOW?
It is hard to stay seated upright or walk or stand longer than 20 minutes. I need advice.

Thanks so much,
Sharon

Hi Sharon,

It couldn't hurt to call the DR's office and tell them what's going on. There's a possibility that since you're so close to surgery they'll opt to wait, but your peace of mind is very important.

Best wishes and please keep us updated.

Sharon,

I'm so sorry that you are in such discomfort and I think if I were you that I'd call the doctor tomorrow, tell them about your enlarged stomach, and ask for an appointment before the 28th. You can talk to the doctor about your fear that it may be cancer and ask him why he did not order any further testing. If you aren't comfortable with his answers, you might want to seek another opinion.

I did find a link to some information about ovarian cysts that may help relieve your mind a little: http://www.gynsecondopinion.com/ovarian-cysts.htm This is from that web site:

But, it is important to know that the vast majority of ovarian cysts are not cancer. However, some benign cysts will require treatment in that they do not go away by themselves, and in quite rare cases, others may be cancerous.
But I still think it's important for you to see your doctor as soon as possible, since you are in such discomfort. He may be able to presrcibe something that will help. Please let us know what you find out.
