Military Life........
I am just over 3 weeks post op. My darling and wonderful Superman!! DH is in the Army and has just been home from Afganistan since Thanksgiving day He was gone 10 months and I had to put off surgery because I did not have anyone else who could care for me post-op. I got really sick from the endo and was put on narcotic pain relievers in late Oct. I am so happy to have the operation behind me. I just feel like he has been "robbed" from me to. He has been called in everyday for at least 6 hours on his 4 day holiday weekend. He only took off the first week after my surgery. I know Pres. Gee Dubya is ready to kick Sadams butt, but I just feel like if his daddy would have handled the job better we would not be dealing with this particular situation now.
Ok, I just needed to whine a little to ya'll who understand the hormone wackiness and the aches and pains of post op. I really have grown to love everyone I get to know through this site (happy tears- sob sob ). Thanks for "listening" to me, I just feel so frustrated and need to:hair:
Now I will go and snuggle my sleeping Superman bacause it may be days? weeks? months? years? before I get to spend time with him again.
Big Hugs to all my WONDERFUL sisters !!!

Hi Janie,
Just a note to let you know I appreciate what you give up for our country and what your dh does to keep us safe. ((((((((())))))))).
Prayers are with you both as we experience things we thought we never would.

Military Life........
Janie,
Oh girlfriend.. s! My DH is Army as well (been in 14 yrs) and I so know what ya mean. Just as we get use to them being home, they are sent off to go somewhere else. My DH has been deployed several times: Honduras, Panama (Just Cause 1989), Korea (1998-1999) Kuwait (2002). Just prior to Desert Storm, his orders were yanked out of his hand (day before he was to leave for Iraq). Now there is a great chance that my hubby will be sent off to defend our country in another war. I agree with you when you say "I just feel like if his daddy would have handled the job better we would not be dealing with this particular situation now". Tho, I have to add that things can happen at a moments notice. Even if Bush would of had handled this situation years back, we could still be in the situation we are in now. After all, its not just Sadams crap we are dealing with. Ok, I better stop.. cause I could rant and rave all day.
Hang in there and know that your sisters are here for ya hon. If you need to rant.. rant! Do what makes you feel better. Also feel free to email or PM me. I understand the whole military thing and have 2 shoulders for you to cry on if ya need em.

this might help
Janie, this might be of some help to you. Maybe worth checking out since I help military families in similar situations. I recommend you go to your nearest Army Community Service office and let the EFMP manager know you are around. Although normally this is mostly for soldiers and families going overseas, it might be helpful with all this deployment stuff going on. I just thought I'd offer that tip = especially if you have any complications or need your DH to be around for a while.

Enjoy your time with your DH now and hopefully all this crap will end soon so everyone's loved ones are home safe. Just wait till retirement hits your whole world will change again!!!! My husband is a contractor for the government now and they may have to deploy, it never ends!!!! Best wishes and thanks for the great job both of you do!!!

Piper,
Good advice, cept one thing. EFMP wont help unless you meet certain criteria (ADHD, disability, etc). My 8 yr old daughter is EFMP cause of ADHD; they do help.. but only if you qualify. EFMP doesn't just deal with overseas issues. They are simply there as a 'liason'.
Janie, I am an FRG (Family Readiness Group) leader here for my DH's unit and enjoy being able to help other spouses with issues. Maybe you can do something like that? Have you thought about becoming a part of the FRG?
