Good News

Hello Sisters,
I had my pre-op appt yesterday. It has been confirmed I'm having LAVH done and scheduled for 1/31 still at 7:30 am. Yeah! Looking forward to the future without endo pain. My original concern was why do abdominal vs vaginal - well thank God my DR has perfected this procedure and I feel very comfortable about the whole thing now. As my DR explained to me: he prefers to a vaginal hysterectomy (LAVH) instead of abdominal procedure, less shock on the patient. He has successfully remove all endo through Laparoscopic surgery - he said he can see much better with the scope than the naked eye looking in the open incision. He said it takes him longer but the rewards are very high for the patient. He also said some doctors are more comfortable performing a abdominal hysterectomy than laparoscopic.

Believe it or not, I'm looking forward to my surgery date and already anticipating a qood recovery plus a life without the endo pain.

Thank you sisters for comforting me through this. I'll post a message after surgery as soon as I can make it to the computer.

Mary

Good News

Hi Mary!

I had my LAVH almost 1 year ago. I am so glad I had the surgery - life post-op has been great!

The external incisions with a LAVH are smaller however, the internal work done is still extensive. The initial recovery period is 6-8 weeks but it can take many months to be competely healed. After surgery it will be important to get lots of rest, drink plenty of water, and take short walks to help prevent blood clots. Be sure to follow all of your doctor's post-op instructions.

After surgery come and visit us in the Post-op Forum to let us know how you are doing. We're here anytime you have questions or need some encouragement. Take care.

Hi Mary,
I'm glad to hear you are going into this with such a postitive mind-set. That will really help with your healing/recovery. Better start making plans on how you want to be pampered!!

Recovery and I'm not even operated on yet

Thank you hyster sisters,

I'm so glad I read your emails last tonight. I just read & corresponded with all my business emails and told them that I'm preparing for surgery and will be healing and recovery from surgery next month and to basically lay off till they hear from me. I think sometimes it is the hardest part to start your pre-recovery period. Let's face it, we all have busy lifes, family, work and I think we need to have one week to ourselfs to get ready for the surgery. Sometimes we have to much focus on the recovery, rightfully so, but don't you think we should prepare ourselves with R & R prior to surgery?

I have no idea how I will feel after surgery-everyone is different. Right now I have an open mind and looking forward to after recovery living a life without endo pain.

With that said....can someone tell me how I can send an email or thread to sister who had surgery on the 21st and there is another sister who is having surgery on the same day I am, the 31st. I'm not sure if this takes place in chat room, never been there. Some sisters when the post threads and you look in their profile there email address is not listed.

I'm just curious and hoping all is well the sisters.

Thanks.
Mary.
