2 days post op, waiting for menopause symptoms

I had my tah/bso 2 days ago (1/21). I've been home for a few hours, trying to figure out when I can expect menopause symptoms. From what I read before surgery, it seemed like I'd have them immediately post op. I'd love to hear other's experiences. Thanks!

menopause symptoms

I started having hot flashes in the first week post-op and I had a headache the day I would normally start my period 2 weeks post-op. Really the hot flashes are only lasting a couple minutes and no big deal. Some resources say that it takes a few weeks after surgery to feel effects because your body has hormones stored in other places that are released. Give yourself time over the next two weeks and be sure to keep in touch with your doctor.

symptoms

I had my surgery four weeks ago and haven't had any symptoms yet. My doctor said that some people have obvious symptoms before leaving the hospital and others never are bothered by menopause symptoms. I hope I'm in the later group!

2 days post op, waiting for menopause symptoms

Congratulations to you,

I was put on the patch on the 2nd or 3rd day after my surgery. I never really experienced any menapausal symptoms except for when I'd sleep my back side felt hot. Not my head or front. It was strange, so I was taken off the patch and put on premarin. That did good until recently. Hopefully you won't have any symptoms. Cross your fingers and feel blessed that you don't have any yet.

Remember to rest and don't sit at computer too long. Take care, Paula

waiting for menopause

I am 8 days post op TAH-BSO. I have had no menopause symptoms yet. I already had been having some night sweats. I am 46 and figure I have been in peri-menopause for a couple of years at least. My Dr. doesn't give me much info. So I don't know what to expect, except what I have read on the net. I can not go on HRT because of bad endometrisis. Let me know if you start having symptoms. I also take vitatmins, 400 mg of vitatmin E. I have heard that helps. So maybe I'm ahead of the game on that. Good luck to you, take it easy.

2 days post op, waiting for menopause symptoms

You may be one of the lucky ones that never feels menopausal symptoms. Mine started kicking in between 4 and 6 weeks post-op............my doc said that there is a lot of estrogen stored in your body and it takes a few weeks for that to get used up.

I hope you have a good recovery and continue to feel well! Take care of yourself and remember to pamper the !!!

Hi Amy!

Hi Amy! Fancy meetin' you here! I've lost track of time and thought you were due next week- but glad you are done and out already. Hope all went well. Go slow gal!

I had sudden menopause from chemotherapy at 44. See my recent post to Cher2 under "Please help me" on the next page of this forum. Everyone talking about menopause.

I'm lucky to have been going through it previous to this surgery.

Doing pretty well 2 weeks out. Staples removed. Just sore and back gets tired and sore. Don't like laying on my back anymore and its like a GI thing now. Getting there Hang in!! Mary M

symptoms of menopause post-op

I'm 11 days post-op and the only symptoms I've experienced have been very mild night sweats. It's not awful, and I don't really wake-up--I just throw off the covers. I keep waiting and thinking I'll have more symptoms, but so far, only the mild night sweats. If this is all, I won't do hormones. My doctor wants me to wait until at least 6 weeks post-op before I decide. Her view is to get through the surgical recovery and decide on hormones then.
