Question - Post-op 10 days.

I had my surgery 10 days ago and I have questions. I had a vaginal hysterectomy with anterior and posterior vaginal reconstruction. That means I have stitches up the back of the vagina, across the top and down the front of the vagina. I had a vaginal prolapse that necessitated the surgery.

How long does the bleeding continue? Any advice from someone else that has gone through this?

post op bleeding

I had the same type of surgery on 1-08-03. My Dr said to expect some bleeding for up to 4 weeks. It should be light, as in a light period, or just spotting. Mine has tapered off as time passes, but will be a bit more noticable sometimes if I am more active. I had fairly extensive rectal repairs, and sometimes I will notice it a bit more after a bowel movement. It is never heavy bleeding, though.

Hang in there, it all gts better. My Dr always says it is the "tincture of time" that heals!

Thank you.

4 weeks is not that bad I guess. At least it will be over before I return to work.

Feel better soon. Thanks again.

Question - Post-op 10 days.

I have noticed that we are in the minority with the vaginal hysterectomy...if you have any other questions or just want to chat, you can email me at DKPSKP@zol.com.
I have learned a lot of useful info on this site, but sometimes it is nice to know someone else that has had a similar experience.

I have been told anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 weeks for the stitches to dissolve.

If you want to see photos of the procedure, visit www.pelvicfloor.com. Choose image library, and that will take you to a section of photos of different surgeries. It is very graphic, so if you are squeamish, keep that in mind.

It made me think a little bit about why my body ached so much when I saw what was actually done to it!!

Take care - wishing you a good recovery!

Thank you for your email address. I'll be happy to exchange emails with you. It's nice to know someone else that has gone through the same surgery.
Wow - what an eye opener to see the photos of the surgery.

Thank you again.
