Real stitches vs "spit ball" material Drug FYI

Hello sisters- I feel so dumb..... At almost 5 1/2 weeks, I just discovered a piece of stitching that was passed. Undeniable, rope like stitch w/ a cute little knot. This would probably explain the bright blood discharge I was having late yesterday and last night.
This morning it is just dark brown and icky w/ a light watery pink drainage. On those little pantyliners it always looks like a larger amount! I imagine this is the "stitch ball" my doc was trying to remove at the 4 1/2 week check up. It was resistive and I was happy to let it stay. I'm anxious to see if now the discharge will lighten up or hopefully stop.
Now for the FYI- At 2 weeks my doc did an internal and said I had a vaginal infection that she prescribed MetroGel vavinal gel every night for 5 nights. This is a clear gel going in. She failed to inform me what it looks like coming out. At about the time I read my stitches would be dissolving (3-4 weeks) I had this pinkish brown, papery "spit ball" like material discharging in balls of various sizes. Tiny beads to pencil eraser size. Clumpy brown discharge w/ the ever present pinkish watery stuff. With an oder.
At the 4 1/2 week check, she swabbed out the remaining "balls" and reported that is how the MetroGel works. (no report of further infection) Almost soaking up the infective material and clumping it out. This is for Bacterial Vaginal infections. At the time she did this I had finished the gel for a week.
Any other experiences with this Gel? Forgive me for my DUH moment- hope this helps other sisters

Hi there!

No, I had no idea that this is how MetroGel worked! I wonder why the DRs do not explain this ---- I think I would have panicked if I saw all that come out!

Thank you so much for sharing this; I'm sure it will benefit others who may be in your situation.

I hope the DR said that bright red bleeding was normal.... because typically it is not. You may want to ask about that, too.... just to be safe.
