Rescheduled DX Lap & LSO

Just wanted to let my wonderful sisters know that I called docs office this morning and re-scheduled my DX Lap & LSO for this Thursday the 30th of January. I told the nurse what happened last Friday with my tummy, so she set it up for me to be there at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:30 a.m. surgery time. Wished I could of had gotten an earlier time, but this will have to do. Ready to get this over and done with. Also told the nurse to please have anesthesia call me again (tho it's not required by them) so I can discuss the anti-nausea meds before I go into the OR and also get something for my nerves just as soon as the IV is inserted. Will be asking for something via the IV as it will work faster.

Thanks for the hugs and continued support

(((Amy))) sounds like you've got your ducks all in a row this time... good luck! We'll be waiting to hear how it went afterwards.

that's what they do with me, is give me something as soon as I'm "hooked up" and it stops the nausea right away, with me I think it's a combo of nerves, lack of food and water, low blood sugar and who knows what, but since they started giving me that Dolasetron I've been fine (and it was my anesthetist that came up with that drug too!)

Best of luck on the 30th 's!!

gidge,

Will have to ask about that drug. I know I felt nasty last time and don't want to feel that way again this time. If I have to.. I'll beg!

I would definitely ask for it, it makes a world of difference for me, I just think some people don't do well with the no food, no drink thing that's all!!! 's!!!

Wishing you all the best ((((((Amy))))))

I also request anti-nausea meds before surgery, as I always seem to after surgery. With the meds, I am fine. Nothing worse then being sick to your stomach after surgery.

the anesthetist may also allow you to take some oral Gravol (or whatever it's called there in the U.S. anti-nausea pill anyways) at home in the .am before you come in......it's worth a shot to ask anyways!!!

best of luck you know we'll all be rootin' for you!!!

Amy:

Ask for Versed (lovely drug, with amnesiac properties ) and no Demerol.

Most pre-op meds include a shot of Demerol, which is guaranteed to make me every time. So I ask for Versed at the last minute, which helps enormously. You could also ask for some Valium to take at home beforehand with a little sip of water...many docs will allow that.

For many of us, the narcotic agents (Demerol, Fentanyl) are what make us so nauseated, so ask about that to see if it helps!

Good luck, sweetie I'll be thinking of you...someone else I know is having her hyst the same day, so the er wheels will be turning for you both!
