one X a week chemo

I'm starting chemo on Friday. My doc thinks my body will handle Taxol and carboplantin better as a once a week dosage instead of the usual every 3 weeks. Just wondering about anybody's experience with this cylce?

Haven't Had This

In fact I had to go to monthly with taxol/carbo and now this time with just carbo due to blood counts. I know they use a lowered dosage. If you really want to get information, I suggest Acor.org and then sign up for the Ovarian Cancer board. Several women there are on weekly doses of various chemos. Ellen

This is an unusual approach for initial treatment of ovarian cancer. I'm sure the doses will be lower and more easily tolerated. How long will your treatments last?
There is a woman in my support group who received taxol on a weekly basis, but this was to treat a recurrence.
Please check out the web site Margaret mentioned. It is comprised of a large group of women with ovarian cancer and they are just the brightest and best when it comes to sharing.
Best wishes.

{{Barbara}}

I had mine the every three week way as well. I've read about this method but haven't talked to anyone directly who's had their treatments on this timeline.

I hope the treatments go well for you and that any side effects will be minimal. I had all of my Carbo/Taxol treatments scheduled on Fridays so I could use the weekends to recooperate before heading back to work on the following Monday. I don't know how the weekly one will work or how hard it might be (hopefully not) but the more you can rest the first couple days after helps tremendously!

Keep us posted on how it goes for you when you can. I'll be keeping you in my prayers for GREAT results and NO side effects.
