I've had my surgery on 1/20/03 everything seems fine so far but i've started bleeding fromm my rectum, it's bright red blood and i'm kinda worried about this until I see my doctor in 3 days.
Anyone ever have this problem?

I had this problem big time after my surgery and just got over a major bout with it. Hemmorhoids..Do they hurt and is it after a BM that you get this blood? Those are signs of hemmorhoids. It is good that you are seeing your Dr. in three days as it'll put your mind at ease.

I had a similiar problem due to hemmoroids and constipation. First thing to try is Tucks after EVERY bowel movement. Also try to keep soft, lots of juices, water, etc. I am glad that you are going to see your doc. Good Luck and I hope your doc gives you some good news. You may want to ask him for this foam called 'procto foam', it really helps with the pain, :burning: and itching.

God's Blessings,

Sherri

bleeding from rectum

Hi! This may seem kind of personal to ask,but it may help to put your mind at ease-if you have rectal bleeding, after a hyst,it may be caused by hemorrhoids that have been strained by gas from the hyst. Did you have a lot of gas? I did,and also had a hemorrhoid for many years without any problems until I was 3 months post-op,in October 2001 from a TAH!! Your doctor can tell you,so you may want to contact your primary physician,in the meantime. My primary doctor examined me and said that my hemorrhoid had become inflamed, and gave me anal suppositories to relieve the burning, and the bleeding soon stopped. I freaked, just like you, when it first occurred. When it started again,in the spring of 2002,my primary doctor referred me for a colonoscopy, because of a family occurrence of this cancer(my mom is a survivor). The colonoscopy was clear. Thank God. Now I have to have one again,in 2007. I'm NOT looking forward to drinking the Colyte. Yuck!!!!

I think you should call your DR and describe to them what is going on, how much blood, etc. Don't wait 3 days, call today if it is very much, tomorrow if it is not. This is why they have a DR on call at all hours. Please don't just assume that it is "hemmies". It could be something else.

Hope you feel better very soon!
