Surgery Tomorrow

Hi all,
I am new here, I just found this site. My surgery is tomorrow and I am pretty freaked out. I have my boss giving me a guilt trip about missing work, which is really not helping. Anyway, I just wanted to say hi and solicit some happy thoughts and good luck wishes!

Good Luck GIJILLIE-
I wish you had found the site sooner.
BUT you are here now. If you would like to read stories about many womens hysterectomy it may help, it did me. You can go to the home page and go to the drop down list to find this (I think)
its under Princess Stories.

Also I hope you are prepared for returning home. Hystersisiters are great in letting you know small things to look for or expect.

One thing that helped me out alot was having these things at home for my return.
Pads, for bleeding or spotting
Juices, Drink plenty of and water-
Walk as much as you can- But dont overdo.(This helps gas move also)
Gas medicines- You will have gas afterwards.
DOnt get constipated.... you may want to have a gentle stool softener on hand in case.
Be careful lifting anything- and getting up and down.
I had a TAH in april and found that having pillowws to place under the bend of my legs helped from the incession pulling.

Here are some other links you can read- Hope it helps
MAKE SURE when you return home you come and let us know how you are doing- I am sure you will be fine. AS long as you rest, rest and rest....LOL

Good Luck- runabout (Lynne)

Hi Jillie,

Welcome to Hyster Sisters!!!

I'm sorry your boss is placing you on a guilt trip about having to miss work. I bet if s/he were having this surgery, there'd be more understanding there!

The best way to prepare yourself for this experience is to read and learn all you can. If you haven't already, check out the drop-down menus on the main homepage. (Click on the Princess logo at the top of the page to access the homepage.) There's a lot of great information there that can answer any questions you may have. And feel free to post any questions or concerns you may have. We're here for you whenever you need us, even after surgery.

Best wishes, s, and prayers for tomorrow,

Lisa

OH YEA
I forgot about the boss part- It takes normally 6 wks b4 returning to work....All ladies are different with recovery but you need to think OF yourself. DONT rush things. If you try to do more than you need to, this could result in MORE time b4 returning....
Just give the boss a doctors note and for get about work for awhile

Take Care

Surgery Tomorrow

Well the Army thinks everyone was made from a cookie cutter. I will get 30 days convalesent leave. Hopefully I will do okay with that. My boss actually told me that if I am feeling better I should come back sooner, that he did not think I really would need 30 days off, since when he had surgery on his finger he only took two weeks off. URGH!

Hey, I'm from LA too,,,Good Luck tomorrow

Best wishes on your surgery tomorrow. I am three post-op today. I am leaving in about 15 minutes for my three week check up. Glad you found this site. It has been such a help to me. I was lucky enough to find it a few days before I went in. All the ladies here helped me prepare my home and my family for what was to come. Everyone here has been so supportive. I don't know what I would of done without this site. I had it rough for the first few days after surgery. Had TAH. I had two c-sections prior to this, so I knew what to expect from the cut. Its the gas and the cramping that goes with this surgery that was hard to get use to. But by listening to the ladies here. I was prepared. Hope all goes well for you.

Welcome to the boards

Good luck for tomorrow - you're going to do just marvellously, I'm sure. Mine was last July (seems like a lifetime ago) - and it's the best decision I ever made about my healthcare.

Tons of love and hugs,

Tess

DON'T WORRY

I HAVE TO TELL YOU THAT BEFORE MY HYS.I WORRIED MYSELF SICK.I WAS 31 WHEN I DID IT LAST NOV.I HURT FOR THE FIRST WEEK,BUT AFTER THAT I WAS DOING THINGS THAT I ALWAYS DID.I WAS TOLD TO TAKE IT EASY,AND I LET MY BODY GUIDE ME.I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD BE IN TERRIBLE PAIN AND BE IN BED FOR WEEKS.I THINK THAT YOU CAN DETERMINE YOUR DESTINY.YES,YOU WILL HURT,BUT IT WILL PASS.IF YOU TAKE IT EASY,YOU WILL DO JUST FINE.I WAS PREPARED FOR THE WORST BECAUSE I HEARD FROM WOMEN WHO HAD BAD EXPERIENCES,BUT I HAVE A GREAT DR.AND I WAS WALKING AROUND THE SAME NIGHT.I DID TAKE IT SLOW FOR 2-3 WEEKS.DON'T PUSH IT,BUT TELL YOURSELF THAT YOU WILL BE FINE AND YOU WILL.YOU WILL HAVE PAIN,YOU WILL BE TIRED,BUT YOU WILL OVERCOME.BE STRONG,I KNOW YOU'LL BE FINE.
