Question about clear fluid diet

Hi. Tomorrow is my surgery and I was told to go on a clear diet the day before. I know I can have water, sprite, broth, 7-up, stuff like that. I was wondering if anyone knows if coffee is okay to drink. Or tea? Thanks.

Question about clear fluid diet

Hi Dee,

My surgery is tomorrow as well.

The A-Man gave me a list that contains the following:

Clear Liquids:

apple juice
jello
broth
soda
black coffee/tea
water
grape juice

Do not have any milk, cream, juice with pulp, no fruit in jello and no particles in broth with the clear liquids.

Hope this helps.

Good luck to you.

Question about clear fluid diet

Hi Ladies

Best wishes to both of you tomorrow!! Just think you'll soon be on this side of hysterhood.

Just wanted to let you know, at the hospital where I work, coffee-black, no cream is considered part of a clear diet. But you might want to check with your doc Kittykat. T's doc gave her more clear cut instructions.

Let us know how you both make out!!

Clear Diet

Hi,

My dr gave the same clear diet as all of you as well as liquid laxative to be taken at 5:00 pm, the night before surgery.

I'm schedule for this Friday early am for LAVH, so tomorrow being my clear diet w/liquid laxative I'm wondering if I can have a "little" of cream tomorrow morning in my coffee.

Take care hyster sisters.

Mary.

Question about clear fluid diet

Hi Mary

No, sorry I would not advise it. It's to be sure you finally get all cleared out and you would not want there to be any residual "anything" in that bowel if there were a problem. Better to stick with the clears and be safe than sorry.

Best of luck to you also!!
Lots of new crown for us post's to polish!!

Mary,

I too am having LAVH...only not until Feb 4th
I was told the diet was to be strict because they want the bowel empty...if for some unforseen reason they hit the bowel there would be immediate worry of contamination/ infection. I am with you though I enjoy a scoch (sp) of cream with my coffee.
Hope all goes smooth on Fri.
Ryn
