surgery date

I finally got a date for surgery Feb. 18 for a LSH (leaving cervix & ovaries). Somewhat nervous! I'm extremely anemic and am taking iron but Dr. told me it can take a year to replenish stores. I was wondering if being anemic makes recovery longer? Anyone who had an LSH out there? I'm told recovery is shorter? I appreciate your site, reading the posts has really helped me deal with the decision of having surgery. Thank You!

I didnt' have a LSH, but the best thing to do is talk any concerns that you are having over with your doctor. I would think that if there was a problem with your amenia, then he/she would let you know.

Being nervous is very normal......Please stop in the chat room we'd love to chat with you..and if you can't find any info here on the boards there are plenty of ladies in the chat room that maybe able to answer your questions for you!

I had a TAH and I was pretty anemic, for 6 weeks prior to surgery I was taking 150mg iron 3x/day, and after surgery 150mg 2x/day. I haven't had my iron levels checked since surgery, which was almost a year ago.
