Newbie hello
I have similar problems as txlynn. I have a lot of scar tissue and problems with heavy bleeding. I know that I most definately have to have the scar tissue removed. I go into the Dr's on Feb. 7th, and I hope to find out more about what kind of surgery they will do.
One of my biggest concens if how will I feel after, emotionally, sexually, will I still be the same? I have so many qyestions and I am pretty scared. I am 38 and have had what seems like a lifetime of gynecologic problems.
Just wanted to introduce myself and say that I am glad that I found this site. Any advice or suggestions is greatly appreciated. I am going through this pretty much alone so I am a little scared!
Thanks in advance!
Sherri

Hi Sassy
Welcome to Hystersisters! You're going to find wonderful information and support here.
I was 37 when I had my TAH last August. Although I didn't have a lifetime of gynecological problems it started to feel that way since I'd been dealing with one thing or another for about seven years.
Since surgery my emotional state is great! I am no longer a slave to my cycle and can actually enjoy life and be spontaneous. Sexually I've been fine as well because there's no more pain involved. Hubby doesn't notice a difference.
Please make use of all the information available to you here. Check out the pre-op pull down menu for helpful hints (top right of the screen, the press "go"), read through the pre-op resource forum (located on the main forum page.) Ask lots of questions.
Wishing you all the best

Sassy,
Welcome!
I'm so sorry you are having to go through this emotional stress. We have all been there, so we realize how anxious you must feel.
Since we are all different, there is no way to put your mind totally at ease about this surgery. All you can really do is try to find comfort in the fact that most here have come through this surgery just fine - many are much better, as they are rid of the constant pain and the problems caused by long, heavy periods.
As Allison suggests, check out the site, look through all the pull-down menus for information and pre & post-op hints. Knowledge is power - and can also be a source of comfort.
We're all here for you. Take care!

Thanks to Allison65 and Mongie
Thanks for the encouragement! I know it will be alot easier to do this with support and knowledge. I know that I just have to take one day at a time, weigh all the issues and do what's best for me. Having you all to turn to is and will be a great comfort. I am just in the beginnings of all of this so I am sure I will become a permant fixture around here!
Looking forward to reading your thoughts. I have adhesions, very heavy periods, and alot of pain. I also have rheumatoid arthritis. I am hoping that after this, I can get on with life again.
Thanks again!
Sherri
