2-2- 2 operations in 1

I have a trigger thumb and I have to have it fixed
My hysterectomy is scheduled for March 6th
Is there any reason I couldn't have my thumb fixed at the same time as my surgery?
Has anyone had two different surgeries at the same time and what do you think of this?

Normally if you are having two surgeries they are in the same area. For example, the appendix might be removed during a hysterectomy, or in some cases women will have a tummy tuck with their hysterectomies. Some doctors don't want to do two surgeries evcen if they are in close proximity. In your case the two surgeries would not be done by the same surgeon and I doubt that it would be something that would be considered. I could be wrong, but that's what I think.

2 on same day

Hdso 5: Hi, you could try to arrange to get both done at the same time. My gyn did hyster then urologist did bladder sling. They work together a lot as there are only 2 urologist in my town. It worked out great as I had 2 wonderful doctors. And I'm sure insurance company liked having to pay only for one hospital stay instead of 2!! You never know till you ask.

Hi there!

I had surgery to fix a "trigger finger" a few yaers ago. The surgery went fine but I did not have full use of my hand/fingers for a couple weeks. This might sound minor but it sure made it more difficult to wipe after I went to the bathroom, button or zip clothes, shower, and wash my hair.

After I had my hysterectomy I had enough to deal with recovering from a major surgery and I do not think it would have been good to do it with limited use of one hand. I needed both hands to be able to shower, wash my hair, wipe my bottom, and keep my incision clean. If you had a hysterectomy combined with another internal procedure they would be similar surgeries with similar recoveries. However, having a hysterectomy and surgery on the hand are not related and it is two totally different parts of the body. If I had to make a choice I would opt to have the hysterectomy first and have the hand done when you have recovered from the hyst. Just my opinion.

Hope your surgery goes well. Be sure to post on in the Post-op Forum after your surgery and let us know how you are doing. Take care.
